Default carbon - radio problem ?

Is there any range/performance issues to be concerned about if I run my receiver antenna inside of a carbon tube/boom?

Definitely !
Since the carbon acts like a shield, you will probably have a severe range restriction !
In the case of carbon fiber fuses or booms, it is best to route the antenna outside.
