Hi, I am setting up a 3M Graphite with a Hacker B 50S motor for LMR. Does anyone know where you get the parts for a "shorting switch"? Electric parts stores including Radio Shack don't have a clue about what I am looking for. If anyone knows where I can order this it would be a big help since it definitely is a safety concern. I'm told it should be installed on the hot wire and be able to handle 50 amps. Thanks, Reeves in Alaska.

Don't know if it would qualify as a switch, but why not use an automotive plug-in fuse holder. They're light and compact, making them easy to mount on the side of the plane. Plug the fuse in just before you launch. It would also serve as a protection against a short circuit. The fuses are available for at least 30 amp, maybe more.

The other thing that comes to mind is a phono jack. They make some of them so the contacts short out when nothing is plugged in. You'd have a plug with no wires on it that you would remove just before launching. You might be able to find something at a shop for the high-powered audio systems people put in their cars.

Hope that helps.

How many amps is the setup supposed to be drawing?

Or, what prop, motor wind, cells?

Hi, The setup I am using is a Hacker B-50 LMR special motor. I am using an 18-10 prop and I am running 7 2400 mah cells or 10 1700 zapped cells. I suppose it could draw up to 50 amps. I am planning now to install a separate Deans Ultra plug on the hot wire. It will have access form the side of the glider. Reeves.
