Default Elevator control for Polk Hobby CHARLOTTE ARF GLIDER

I have problems with installing the elevator control for Polk Hobby CHARLOTTE ARF GLIDER. The inside plastic control rod bent and jammed in the outer plastic tube. where it passed from inside the vertical stabilator to the fuselage. I replaced this "golden rod" type control with a metal inside rod that moved much better when connected to the servo, but not yet connected to the control horn at the elevator . However, the elevator is now moving very slowing after attaching the metal rod to the control horn at the hinge area on the elevator using Dubro Ez Connector For Rod Cable.

I did not follow the ARF instructions that located the control horn farther out from the hinge area, as I did not believe that this would work out. I tried moving the position of the connection at the control horn to better align it, but no improvement in elevator motion was observed.

I welcome all suggestion on the installation of control rod inside the vertical stabilator for upper level elavator.

The metal rod for elevator control that replaced the original plastic rod is currently positioned to align with the servo arm without any binding.

I am going to install a Midwest Carbon Fiber tube for keeping this elevator control rod from bending. It will require me to cut at least one hole in the bottom of the fuselage for placing a plywood bracket to hold and align this tube.

The metal rod shouldn't need a CF tube to keep if from bending.

Is the stab/elevator up on the vertical stabilizer? When control rods come to the surface at an angle, the rod should make a right angle from the connection point to the hinge line. That might be why the horn looked to be in the wrong place to you.

It's hard to follow without a picture. I went to Polk's website to see that glider, but their website really sucks. Their search application won't even find "glider", much less "Charlotte". A picture would help.

Yes, the stab/elevator is up on the vertical stabilizer. When control rods come to the surface at an angle, the rod makes a curved angle from the connection point to the hinge line. I have aligned the control horn to be in the correct place given this curved exit route.

I have added pictures to help here.

It really looks like the rod could be binding in the tube...

There is no binding in the tube when the control rod is not attached to the control horn at the elevator.

Ok well here is a question what servo are you using to move the elevator???? Seems like if there is no binding that it should work fine looks good from the pics. What voltage are you using to the reciever?

from what I am seeing in the photo's I'd bet that the EZ connector is the problem, also the horn is too close to the hingeline. I have a similar set up on 2 gliders, and on both I have a 2-56 ball bolted to a shorter horn and as da Rock has shown, the bolt position is square the the hingeline as shown in the lower diagram he posted. DONT use the cheap nylon ball cap type, use the black link with the brass ball.
