Default rotorspeed

Hi!

I recently measured the rotorspeed of my RJX 50 EP and i saw that when i increase the pitch, the rotorspeed decreases. Is this normal? If not can I do something about this?

Thanks in advance,

Cathal

What are your throttle curve/ESC settings?

Yes you can....you can adjust the rotor speed and the pitch with the settings in your radio. There is a throttle curve and pitch curve. There are different curves but for normal flying I have mine set so when I increase the throttle it also increases the pitch. Now in idle up or stunt mode you will have different pitch and throttle curves also. It's all adjustable. If you bought the heli new there should be some sample pitch and throttle curves in the instructions somewhere I would think. If not, you can probably get some example curves off the internet by doing a search.
Also, I'm not sure if you are new to helicopters or not but your helicopter has to be set up properly mechanically to make the pitch and throttle curves work properly.

Totally Normal, and Real2You posted a very good first response to your question. Adjusting the throttle curve is your first step. that is assuming that your pitch curve is close to where it needs to be.

Now tell me, how did you measure the rotor speed? Did you do it by yourself? Did you have somebody help you? and most scary of all questions: did you have the helicopter tied down to a fixed object? It is pretty hard to measure the headspeed of a climbing helicopter (when pitch is added helicopters climb). We normally measure headspeed of a hovering helicopter and "gage" the performance in the climb and adjust from there.

Is the RJX 50EP a nitro/glow powered heli or is it an electric powered heli? That will make a BIG difference in how you set the "throttle curve".
