Quick beginner transmitter question
Do most experienced pilots keep their transmitters in the idle up position all the time or only use it for inverted flight and such, when they need it?

RE: Quick beginner transmitter question
Mostly its left in the normal throttle position unless planning to do 3D or aerobatics involving inverted flight.
Its good to get in the habit of flying with it in the normal position... then when you start learning loops, flip to idle-up do the loop and flip back.
You need to go into negative collective pitch at the top of a loop or you WILL smack the ground. A fixed wing has an advantage... even a trainer's flat bottom wing automaticly will work to give some lift when the airplane is upside down... the heli you have to change the collective.

RE: Quick beginner transmitter question
Take off and land in Normal (and for hovering maneuvers), Idle-up the rest of the flight. The exception is my scale heli that I only use Normal (no aerobatics with it yet).
Unless you're running the same headspeed in normal/idleup, you don't want to be flipping back and forth throughout the flight. You're gyro gain might be different between modes as well. Higher gain for normal, less for idleup. I also have different piro rates/ expo settings in idleups.
