Default Need help with engine!!!!!!!!!!

Ok does anyone have a helicoptor with an O.S. 32 engine? If so can you tell me what I may be doing wrong with it. I have the engine in the coptor, and I got it started. I am playing around with the mixture of fuel with the needle valve. I don't think I have it really rich, but this thing just wont fly. Instead, when I push the throttle all the way, it cuts off. It of course cuts off when the throttle is all the way down too. So either way the heighest point of power is when I have the stick in the just a little above the middle. As I start pushing it up it starts to conk out until I push it all then way then it dies. After trying it quite a few times the engine floods. I think it is flooded because it is cover in that oil that spits out. Now it won't start.

new glow plug ??? mayeb try different type glowplug. i had a os 50 doin the same thing .. used a enya 3 instead of the os 8 works great. how many turns out is the main? soudns like the idle needle coudl be a little rich too if its not ideling is the throttle linkage set up right?.. i think leave the idle at factory, then work on the main needle for the time. set it rich then slowly wind it in until it transitions from idel well. the os 32 too shoudl idle great. becasue u don;pt have to run it so rich down low like a TT well at least thats what i found. others might have some other opinions. . . i had an os 32 in a shuttle i remmeber for run in it was about 2 turns out with the idle screw at factory setting. . of course different climates and atlittudes and different mufflers will change it too.

hope u get it sorted soon.

I don't know if it will tell you anything if I tell you I am using the O.S. A3 glow plug which is one of the more basic ones. It is not one of the highest. I just asked the guy and he was out of the better ones and game me this one. I am using the Hobby Town USA brand Wild Cat fuel. Would that be a problem? I do have the throttle set up right. Maybe I can still adjust the richness.

Does anyone else have any suggestions about what may be wrong with my engine? I thought the glow plug may not be strong enough.

Sounds like the mixture to me. I think you should get some help. I have read your other posts and without meaning to sound nasty with your level of knowledge and experience, if you do get the engine running properly, then you will possibly cause some serious damage.

I am willing to put money on the fact that your model needs some other tweaks/adjustments before it is truly ready to fly.

Please don't take this as criticism. I would just hate to see you waste all your time and money.

Thanks for your input siclick33. I totaly understand what you are talking about. The farther and farther I am getting on this thing I am feeling I really want to talk to someone. So I am going to talk to one of the guys at Hobby Town here where I am at. One guy has exactly a Raptor 30 like mine. If I can get him to show me his and look at mine to see what kind of adjustments to make. Plus I am getting the simulator in two weeks. I will start practicing with that. Let this be a lesson out there to anyone who has not gotten a heli yet. I played the sim on the computer and figured, I can do this, but now after getting mine together and getting the engine started, I would rather see a pro. fly mine first to see what is going on with MY coptor. The he can show me some tricks. Those blades get to spinning pretty fast and it is exciting, but at the same time scary. I would hate to crash it. Thanks again siclick.

Sorry Pilot77. You did help a lot. I am taking your advice too. As a matter of fact I like the sound of yours better which I am going to try tomorrow, but I know I still need someone to check my stuff to make sure I am taking off right. I am still getting a better glow plug. I have only an O.S. A3. But I am going to get an O.S #8 to put in there which will really give it more power. Sorry about that I can thank you too!

The engine in my RC car had a same problem a while ago, but not as extreme
i went to my LHS and one of they guys kindly fixed it for me, all the did was started the engine up and adjusted the mixture and the idle

SO i doubt you engine has anything wrong with it apart from that , ask someone to help you

it sounds like your mixture is too lean and your idle is too high

hope you get it sorted
