Default Laptop & Simulators

Hello all.

Wanted to know if my laptop had what it takes to run one of the more popular Simulators. (G2/G3, Aerofly Pro Deluxe, Reflex XTR)

Intel® Pentium 4 2.0GHz
Microsoft® Windows® XP Home Edition
512MB 333MHz DDR ****M (2-256MB modules)
80GB hard drive
Integrated Intel® graphics with 32MB UMA memory technology

1) I need something that will run on my computer.
2) Something easy to use. (Not to technical, Newbie here), Comes with a transmitter and can work with what ever I end up buying in the near future.
3) Buying a Raptor 50V2 w/ OS 50SXH in a month. Would like to have a decent simulation of a Raptor.

Thanks,

Anthony

Well I believe G2 would be the only sim that would work on that laptop. Only because of the low memory on the video card though. With an upgraded video card, like 256mb you should be able run any of them. I am running G2 on a 2.53ghz, 256mb RAM and 64mb video card desktop with no probs, but to go to G3 I’ll need at least another 256mb of RAM and a 256mb video card I think.

G2 will let you practice flying helis. I use the Folier Competition 60 with a few mods to the cyclic rates. Seems to be the closest heli on there compared to my Raptor 50 V2 with TT50 engine. The Folier is a bit lower on power than my R50 though, but not bad. G2 is an okay sim, but not great. The flying characteristics are not perfect, but they are good enough to get a great deal of practice and experience. I went from the G2 sim to my R50 and on flight 1 I was doing nose in hover, flight 3 I was doing forward flight and loops and rolls by flight 5. So it will help a lot, besides it let’s you do foolish stuff and get into situations you’d never consider with your real model until you got much more flying time.

I've played Aerofly on a laptop and it worked pretty well. I don't know the specs on the laptop but this was two years ago, so it most likely wasn't as powerful as today's computers.

I run G2 on a laptop with worse specs than yours... I had to turn off the fog though... for some reason, with my video card, the whole screen was white until I turned it off. Check the websites of the different sims, they should have the minimum specs required.

if you reduce the numbers of colors from 32-24-12. it helps reduce the amount or video ram needed to run graphics smoothly.
i ran across the same problem watching DVD's on my penII laptop.
