Futaba gain question
I have a JR 500T gyro & a Futaba 9c radio. I hooked the gain up to channel 5. Do I adjust the atv down on 5 to stop tail wag? I've got it down to about 14 & it's still jumpy.

RE: Futaba gain question
If its still wagging at 14 percent, move the rod in one hole on the servo and start over. Your looking for about 12 to 14 mm from center of the servo spline to the middle of the hole, the longer the servo arm the higher the mechanical gain, you need to back that off from the sound of it.

rockhouse ... Do I adjust the atv down on 5 to stop tail wag?
You mention ATV ... Does the Gyro Sense menu (Advanced menu 1/2) settings work for a JR Gyro or do you have to adjust the channel 5 ATVs for the JR gain settings.
I have a 9C and a Futaba 401 gyro and my gyro sense (gain) settings are adjusted in the Gyro Sense menu. My ATVs for channel 5 are at 100. Is the set up somehow different with a JR gyro?
Just curious ...
Good Luck,

RE: Futaba gain question
interesting. Hopefully someone will respond. Back to the answer Barracudahockey gave: Jr say not to move the servo arm in more than 16mm. That's where it's at now. The tail wagging wasn't a problem until I sorted out a servo arm stripping problem.

What JR say and what works on every helicopter are sometimes 2 different things. Try it, the worst that can happen is you move it back out.
Tippy, in GY mode the gyro sense menu can adjust any HH gyro. Really it does the same thing as ATVs just in a 0 to 100 format in each direction from center. The biggest thing with Futaba radios and JR ring gyros is understanding how to get rid of drift with sub trim and how that goes against normal AVCS conventions.
