Default First Forward Flight

After 2 months of practicing hovering in the back yard and flying in G2 I successfully attempted my first and second forward flight. It wasn't real pretty but with lots of practice it will be.

I had to share.

Good Job!

Wasn't too long ago I was in your shoes. Now concentrate on relaxing while flying around, I had a real problem with getting nerved up (still do sometimes).

whoa whoa whoa...it took you 2 MONTH to master hovering? WOW. I haven't even finished building my first heli yet, but I can't wait to start flying it. Are you telling me it's THAT hard?

Yep took me about 1 month of 3-4 times per week to feel very confidant in tail in hovering... Now at about the 1.5 - 2 month mark I'm working on basic forward flight figure 8's and nose left / right hovers..

Once you get confidant in basic hovering, the next big hurdle is the transition in turns and perspective. I find simple figure 8's easier then hovering tail left/right.

My brain was wired to planes for almost 10 years, and its like learning the hobby all over again. Well at least to me it was.

Give Realfilght G2 a try it's worth its weight in gold.

I too believe in the Sim. I practiced on the Sim a ton. It all payed off when I went to the field for the first time with the heli. I hovered the first time I took the sticks and in the same flight I started walking it up and down the runway.

The next week I took off in forward flight on the first flight. I have had the heli flying now for 3 weeks and I can do figure 8's and return to hover with out much difficulty.

Even if the Sim is not truly like the real thing (Like mine Not G2) It will still help you get your fingers and brain working in the right directions.

Also... If you can get someone that flys them now to look over it and do a trim flight for you that is the best. What an experienced person can do in 10 min would have taken me hours to learn on my own.
