I am very new to the Electric Heli hobby, and I was suggested the Blade CX. After a few days sliding the heli on the floor indoors to understand left/right/foward/back, my third flight outdoors, got the heli up about 20 feet then the heli lower blades started to shatter. Then fell to the ground and then the 4in1 started smoking. Had to go out and spend $60 on the part, and also other parts, that came to a total of $130.00. I wasn't very happy, that I had to go through this, but reconnecting the servers onto the 4in1, I am not sure which is Ch1 and which servo is Ch2 (left? or right?). Having problems reconnecting the servos to the 4in1 (not written on servos). I did guess connecting them, and had the heli go up, but the tail keeps rotating (slowly). Then I landed the heli, and it flipped breaking the Lower rotor Head. Every time I take the heli for a flight, it costs me. Can be from $6 then up to over $130.00. I even have the training gear on, and it flips all the time, even on landing. I do not understand why.

I should post pictures of my $600+ Blade CP Pro. Funny thing is, it looks just like a stock CP. Why? All the crashes and repairs. I figure I have about that much in it now. At this point, it's actually two wrecked CP's combined into one (a CP and CP Pro). Welcome to the wonderful world of helicopters!
Seriously, it isn't easy flying these things. I also have a Blade CX and it still catches me off guard sometimes. You might want to invest in a good simulator program. In the long run, it will save you a lot of money and frustration. There is also "Radd's school of flight". Another good place to learn. I need to unlearn some bad habits and go through Radd's myself.
By the way, you sound like you already figured it out but the left side servo is channel 1 and the right side servo is channel 2 (tail towards you) with the orange wires facing forward (I'm looking at mine now). As for the tail slowly rotating, there is a "proportional" screw in the 4in1 you will have to adjust. Be careful turning it (use plastic screwdriver if you have one). It breaks easily. Just try lifting off just a little bit and see which way it turns then set it down, disconnect the battery (very important) and then turn the screw a little bit. Then test fly it again (not too high) and see if it helps. If it turns more then turn the screw the other way. It's trail and error to get it right.
Hope that helps.
Gary.

Thanks gsk11740. I can understand the RC hobby can be costly. In my younger days, I used to have the BlackFoot monster truck vehicle. I was dressing it up as if it was my own vehicle, but the ladies wouldn't be interested...lol But for a helicopter novice I expected to spend, but not right away and a huge chunk. Now for flying the CX helicopter, I am aware of changing each part to metal. First the flybar comes off after the heli flips and ends up upside down. Now I have a metal inner shaft. Cost me $20 here in Edmonton (Canada). Then my lower rotor head breaks. I do have a spare one, very lucky on that, because the hobby store here is now out of stock, but in the mean time, I have a metal one on the way. Oh..from the heli falling to ground the tail of the body breaks, that I had to go out and get another. Must be carefull on purchasing one, because I found mine warped. I got the tail replaced, but the warped tail was done from the shipping to the hobby shop. Prob how Eflite stock the boxes, then shipped. The thing is about the hobby shop, they will not stock other interesting parts for the heli or unknown manuafacters. Only if by Eflite. Now that can make the hobby stressfull if starting out, and not interesting. So, now I have to get my stuff online, and wait, which can be more expensive and time consuming.

I had to replace the inner shaft with a metal one too. It's one of the recommended upgrades on the CX, along with heat sinks for the motors.
One thing I wonder about on E-Flite helis (and I'm sure some other brands that hobby shops regularly carry) is if they are deliberatly designed to be just unstable enough and also breakable enough to be a guaranteed revenue stream for the hobby shops and manufactures. I know the local hobby shop I used to go to lied their tails off to me about how easy the CP was to fly. They said it was only slightly harder to fly than the CX. Yeah, RIGHT! I also found out they were charging as much as 10% over full list price for a lot of the replacement parts I needed. Needles to say, I don't deal with them anymore. I do have a really good hobby shop in the area (probably the best I've ever seen) but they are over 20 miles away from me and I can't always get the time to go there. Look on the internet. Some great deals on parts there. For example, I've gotten replacement blades for my CP from Helidirect for half what E-Flite and the HS charges for them.
One thing I've had to learn from flying Helis is bargain shopping. Otherwise, I'd be bankrupt by now!

Hi guys,
As far as parts for the blade cx and cp and cp pro. I use hobbyzone.com. Been using them for 6 months or so, for my CX, CP and Pro.
The have all the helis for sale and all the parts and upgrades for each. There reasonable in price, but the nice thing I like about them is that I've never had a back order and always get my order in 3, no more than 4 business days.
Here's a link, check it out: http://www.hobbyzone.com/e-flite.html
