I have decided to get a raptor 30.
For the radio I am looking at this one:

any thoughts or comments?
I am not going to get into 3D flying. I want to be able to fly this thing around, hover it, and maybe get one of those little video cameras and look at the roof of my house. ( I have a bad roof and I really want to look at it without getting on a ladder)
7 channels and ball bearing servos seemed like a good deal.
thank you for your time and have a good day
I am open to suggestions in the same price range.

Hmm, looks like a descent radio, but if I was you, I would buy one of the 9C radios from
http://www.servocity.com/ServoCity/P...ol_units_.html
They are not much more expensive than the Eclipse but they are by far better radios.

thanks for the link I will check it out right now.
Maybe I am silly but I just don't think I am going to need all the bells and whistles that some people here use.
I am not going to be in competitive events. I just will never be able to afford the high end helis or their up keep.
I think I can afford a simple heli, decent radio, decent servos and just have a relaxing time with the little heli.
I got the RealFlight sim so that I can practice enough so that I won't get frustrated and give up, but I don't see getting into inverted flight.
the camera thing is one thing I can see spending extra money on in the future. PS I also plan on getting the co-pilot for the heli, does anyone know if the co-pilot will work with the raptor 30?
I think it will be V2 if that helps.

I was going to suggest that radio too. Remeber, you have the radio for a long time. Spend the extra $150 on it. You will be very glad you did. It is 10 times the radio you are looking at and will last you a lot longer. If you ever have to upgrade, it will cost you more then, and if you get it now, it will be there and you won't have to spend the money later. If it takes you a little longer to get the money, it will be really well worth it. It is way easier to program all the heli parameters into it than the one you are looking at and will make heli flying way more pleasant. If you ever have to sell it for any reason, it will bring a lot better return on your money than the other one as well. Don't just look at the price, look at how much more you are getting. You can find them used on ebay or on RCU once in a while, but they are new enough you won't find a ton. Look hard, it will be worth it.

what you ahve to remember is that the 9C will do airplaned as well and is very esy to program. I have programmed the Eclipse and the 9C is easier. When I started flying helis I said all I want to do is fly around, but after I went to my first fun fly and I was about the only guy just flying around I though hey that looks cool. Now I use my G2 for leaning 3D stuff and have learned to hover inverted as well. Don't limit yourself you may be a natural and turn into the next hotdog and then you would kick yourself for not having the radio of choice. Speaking of the radio of choice I have the JR 10X heli and airplane versions and wouldn't trade them for anything.

If you are in the 300 dollar range I would suggest a rd6000 super from airtronics. It's better than the eclipse 7 and is cheaper as well. Plus if you order from heliproz, you get free shipping.

Another option may be the Airtronics Rd 8000, Tower hobbies should have it around the end of the month. I think it maybe the radio I end up getting. Priced around $335 with 5 servos.

thanks for the more cost effective links.
I appreciate the input on the higher end radios. I understand what you are getting at but I do not really see myself at any clubs after the first year. My back yard backs up to conservation land. I want to fly over it. no one else around just me and maybe some friends. I can deal with an OK radio. This will allow me to spend some money on a better helicopter, and ball bearing servos.
thank you all for your time and have a good day
