Default Problem With Engine Tuning

Hello Everyone!

I have TZ30 (it's like raptor) heli with Hirobo 36 engine and I have some problem with the tuning.

when I put the throttle stick at 1/4 way the engine sounds like he's on full power.

I checked that the stick and the engine are running the same way (if i put full-stick the carborator is opened the fullest, and so with half-stick and in idle mode)

my th-crv
p5-100%
p4-75%
p3-50%
p2-25%
p1-0%

what should i realy frustrated?

thanks!
Amit

You might be running the engine a little lean, try richening it up a bit.

Is the engine overly hot, will the heli lift off the ground and if it does where is your stick when it lifts to hover.

The engine overly hot... I guess... I can't touch it after 2 min flight. the helicopter lift off about 1/2 stick but bacuse the high rpm the stick is too sensestive.

I don't think you should be able to tuch it. The only engines i have been able to tuch for longer than 2 seconds are my 4-strokes (tuching the head, definatley not tuching the muffler).

I think a good temp for the motor is if you can touch it for about 2 seconds without getting lots of heat/pain/burns. Don't ry on the muffer you will burn your hand off!

If you have too little pitch the engine will run faster and your throttle stick will be very sensitive.
I am only a beginner but I would check the pitch settings and add these values, with throttle settings, here and more experienced pilots than me may be able to help you.

eg.
+10 deg 100% throttle
+5 deg 50% throttle
-2 deg Idle

Hope this helps

It helps to have an optical tach and someone to check the head speed for you in a hover. My Hyper 50 powered raptor hovers with the actual carb opening being at just slightly over 1/4th. I have tached the head speed with the carb body at 1/2 open in a hover and it was over 2300. (Very sensitive at this high speed) I was thankful for carbon blades and metal head. 1/4 throttle opening gives me about 16 to 1700 rpm's. Every engine is different though and you will have to tune the throttle curve to get the head speed you are looking for.

Good luck and happy flying[8D]

This is a really good engine tuning instruction manual that I wrote for myself.

The main two reasons I would guess to be your problem.

1 Not enough pitch set. At about half throttle on the TX you should have about 6 degrees, full throttle about 9-11 degrees pitch. It sounds like you may only have (say 2) degrees at half throttle.

2 Too much throw on your throttle servo therefore you may have full throttle on your carb although your TX is only set at half.

Re: Touching engine.

To temp test an engine the proper way is to put your finger on the backplate of the engine IMMEDATELY after you land and spool down. You should be able to hold your finger there for 3 to 5 seconds before it becomes uncomforatable. If its cold you are running too ruch and wasting fuel, if its hotter than that you are going to burn it up.

Ok I found the problem!

1. the narrow tube inside the big fuel tank was ripped.

2. I close both Needles and open 3 rounds and then I adjusted the engine.

Now it sounds much better the heli lift off at 3/4 stick - I need to check how he fly.

Thank you all !
