if he's got it setup well and he can fly it, then it's probably good to go, but with that said...
add some weight to lower the cg like a bigger battery super skids or training gear. Also make sure the weights on the flybar are all the way out, and you could even have 2 sets on there to dampen the effects. You can also move the swash links in a hole or so on the servos to tame down the side to side motion =)
If you've adjusted a bunch have your friend try to fly it again and see what he can do with it.

Go to www.bladecprepair.com and set up your heli according to the website. It sounds like your swash linkages are off and that your proportional pot is not adjusted right either. On mine when I first start to spool up the tail rotor starts spinning first, then the main rotor starts.
Get training gear on that as before you try to hover it again. it takes some serious head scratching to figure out what is supposed to do what but if you get the head set up properly first, then move on to the proportional and finally the gyro it should lift off a little straighter.
Remember, the swash has to sit perfectly level at zero throttle and balancing everything plays a major part it stability. It took me about an hour the first time I set mine up and as time has progressed, it only take an hour to set it up......heh! They are alot of work to get going and learn on but when you finally get that first 10 - 20 second hover......you are hooked!
Another great place to get some more specific info in in the Eflite forums here, One of the main threads i go to is this one : http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_5212856/tm.htm There are alot of expert setup guys in there, mrsamm is one of them. He is very good at diagnosing issues with just a couple pictures and some detailed info!
Keep us informed and get that heli set up mechanically first, then we can help you get that first hovor going!
