Hi I'v just bought a 3Ch elec heli,.
Its called a : Skyshadow Twin Blade
It seems good, i had to play with the trims for about 10 mins before i could stop it spinning around
Im new the the hobby and wanted something i could destroy by crashing (accidently) that didnt cost much..
Anyhow,
the problem i have is, My heli can hover now, quite hapily, it still turns slightly but only very and it depends on the speed of the rotors.
When i push the right hand stick forward, this should spin the rear roter causing a push of air downward, causing the heli to tilt, and fly forward.
However when the rotor starts to spin, it gets so fast and starts to cause the whole tail to shake, very slightly but it makes a loudish vibrator-type noise and wont spin fast enough to cause the heli to tilt, If i hold onto the bar so it stops vibrating, the rotor spins faster, fast enough to cause the heli to tilt.
How do i stop the tale from vibrateing in the way that it does ??
Thanks,
and sorry for the newbie post :P

I don't know if you can stop the vibration of the tail. It's only a thin carbon fiber rod. You could try maybe changing the pitch of the small rotor in the back, in other words twist the plastic blades so that they are at more of a angle and push on more air. You have to remember, the quality of the heli is going to be in line with the price.

Indeed
thanks for the reply, just kinda thought it would have been fly-able
...
i have a heli that can hover and turn left / right,
it sometimes drifts in a direction of its choice, but no way to correct it lol.
yeah it just a thin carbon rod... shocked at it vibrating tho, kinda thought it would work :\

I don't know what kind of budget you have, but if you want some advice on something that would work for you and not be a ton of money. I'd say go for an E-Sky Coco lama or something like that. It will fly and actually be a lot more capable than the one you are playing with now. I don't know what you paid for your but I could guess around $30-$40. That being said, the lama sells for about $84 right now. not much more but a lot better of a toy. I have one that I still play around with in the house when it's too bad outside to fly my real ones.

Thanks erik, I'll look into that
, dont think the wifey will let me buy one so soon after getting this one tho,
just bought a house so the budgets pathetic ;P
hence why i thought i would get the cheapest thing with blades + motors to see if this is something i am wanting to get into...
guess i thought wrong in this case :\.
i shall start saving up

go check out rc groups and look up the blade runner or the wild wheels heli, they are the exact same thing. Sounds like your problem can be comming from two things, either one side or the other has too much or too little pitch that causes one side to create more or less lift than the other side resulting in the vibration, or the blades are not the same weight, which would also cause the vibrations.
So basically I would see if there is anything you can do about the balance or checking out if the pitches look the same, and it's producing the same amount of lift on each side. Also, I dunno about the UK, but here in the US they do sell replacement tail rotors for that heli, and you could just get another one and see if that fixes your problem.
To balance the rotor, balance it on a metal ruler or a knife or something with a well defined thin hard edge. If it balances right in the center of the hole, then you've got it. If it is out of balance you could try very small peices of tape, or filing part of the blade. If you want more info PM me with your e-mail and I'll send you a balancing guide for a little bit larger heli's, but it could be scaled down to this size quite easily.
It could also be a deal with harmonics, but that is quite complicated, and I'm not sure there is too much you could do about that.

Thats the exact one, its a "wild wheels heli"
I was told i was getting a sky shadow, but i got that instead :\
Im guessing there all the same though...
When you say either one side or the other has too much pitch, do you mean the actual tail rotor, or do you mean the problem is with the two main rotors?
Im having trouble understanding what you mean by balancing the rotor on a metal knife
.
I was considering taping a small piece of wood or bamboo to the boom to absorbe some of the vibrations.
Any further info would be great
And thanks for your reply mrasmm, i was about to give up on it...

yup, no prob. I am taking about the tail rotor. How you balance it is so that one prop is on one side and the other prop is on the other side (this is the blade off of the tail rotor). The knife will be at a 90 to the blade, and you will just get it on there so it balances (think like a see saw or something). It's harder to find the balance point on these small heli's, and it will probably fall off if you've got it wrong. But you want it to balance when the sharp blade of the knife is right in the center of the hole where it goes on to the motor.
Also if you'ev got the wild wheels it comes with 2 props. Put the prop on with the circle around it, which is the smaller one. It has better balance, and the bigger one doesn't really add performance (even though it should)
