Get a $100 heli till you can fly then get the big heli, def use a sim before hand, you need to train your hands\reflexes for the heli as well as learn orientation, you could go from a sim to the Trex but you crash that in one your first few flights you're gonna be really upset, go cheap till you get some skills, at least be able to hover, I suggest the HoneyBee Fixed Pitch for a beginner heli, it is a FP so it is much easier to set up for flying and very durable, since you want a single rotor heli anyways don't bother getting a coaxial heli cause you'd be wasting money, coaxials are a little easier to learn on but handle diff from single rotor heli's, and Collective Pitch heli's require a fair amount of setup time as well as basic knowledge of how they work to set it up. A Fixed Pitch will be much easier in that aspect. Of course if you got the money to spare then the trex would be cool to learn on, but have to have money to spare to fix it also.

Get a sim and check out some local flying clubs in your area and see what they fly and who would be willing to help you set it up and learn the basics. You can easily start with a Rex 500 and have great success. Some start with the cheap little electrics and beat them to death but if you take your time you can start with a nice heli and learn how to fly without any crashes, don't get me wrong, you will crash, but you don't have to crash the first time out. If you have a flying club close to you a nitro might be a better choice. The electrics are great and make alot of power but unless you have alot of batteries it's hard to get in alot of flying in a day. With a nitro you can get in 4-5 flights and just have to recharge the rx pack.

well you shuld buy both, the coaxial for getting over the fear of flight, and learning orentations and just fun, and the simulator to train for bigger better single blade choppers. just get a cheipo $20 simulator.

refrain form getting a CX, they are over priced.

intead get a colco lama 5 from helicopter heaven, its much more stable and more durable. i have not gotton any tbe with it even with all broken blades. plus the guys over at that store, test and tune the chopper, he also ships out very quickly.

here is a vid with mine [link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rV7m7shG6YI]2 weeks of practice[/link] its kind of dark sorry. this was actually a bad run!
