Guys,

I bought this ESC last July, 8th 2008 (you can see more information on it at http://www.rc-fever.com/60a-brushles...0g-p-3446.html - great shopping experience, by the way, highly recommended), and I have a couple of questions:

1. I'm really new to this world, so... what is Governor mode? Should I be worried about using it or not?

I'm used to fly planes, and I once flew a beginner Nextar with some kind of "auto pilot" feature, that was really a pain in the neck... I don't know if this Governor thing could be something similar to that...

2. Is there any way to NOT use the integrated BEC in this ESC. I mean, is there any way to disable it and only use the ESC portion of the device? I have a separate BEC to power my receiver, so I was just wondering how could I get rid of the BEC in my ESC and be able to use the separate one I already have.

Governor mode lets the esc try to regulate the headspeed to some degree, depending on the esc it may or may not work well. I don't know about the align esc and how well the gov mode functions on it. You should be able to run without it and thats probably how I would go, just set your curves for what you are after. Find more info by searching/posting to an align forum.

You should be able to disable the bec function of the esc by removing the red wire from the esc plug that goes to your rx. Instead of cutting it, remove it from the connector and tape it up or buy a short extension and then cut/remove the red wire from it.

Depending on the esc/bec/rx combination, you may have to remove the signal wire from the bec if it has one, (orange or yellow usually). Leave the signal wire and ground from your esc and plug that into the thr channel. Keep the power and ground from your bec and plug that into the bat port on your rx.

You just select to not use the Gov. when you program the ESC with the middle stick position, I think. Double check that with the instructions. no problem flying without it.

What do you recommend as a good ESC for TREX 500? I saw this thread and need to know what to buy to replace my burnt Align ESC. I also read that it's not recommended to use a ESC with integrated BEC for this amp level.

The phoenix 60 from Castle Creations is a real piece of work. It's a BEC integrated, but you can't use it with the trex 500, so you'd need a external BEC to power your system.

I've used the Align ESC without problems for more than 20 flights with my trex, but I've heard also about that recommendation you said, and know people with have had plenty of issues (receiver reset, lost of signal during flight and other nasty situations).

You can try the Align BEC (http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...ducts_id/18569). I've been using it for a while, no troubles at all.

DO you know where I can get Align 60A BL60G Programming guide? I want to program it for a motor on Century 550 Swift Heli. before i was using it with Align Motor on TREX 500 but now I put the ESC in my Century 550 SWIFT. no matter what throttle curves I set, I do not get enough main rotor speed to do 3D. Any help will be appreciated on how to program this ESC.
