Default Blade Problem

I have a JR Venture that I play with when I can't fly my big planes and Jets and ran into a problem today. While hovering one of my main rotor blades covering came off at the tip and inward a couple of inches. They are the wood blades with a film covering on them. So I went in and happened to have another pair of blades and switched out. Went back out and was hovering and the same thing happened again.

These blades are several years old and the heli sits more than it hovers.

Is this a common problem? Can you buy this covering to recover the blades rather than by new blades? Is it hard to recover them?
It looks like the ends are sealed together. How would you do this with only a Sealing iron or heat gun?

Thanks for any help.

Yep the plastic covering will harden and tend to split off. You can get blade covering that just shrinks on.. You have to look on the web sites for blade covering. Or just get some carbon blades if you can swing it or some new woodies if not.
