Default Axe CPV Help!!!!!!!!!!

Hello,
Can someone please help me with my Axe?? Im new to helicopters, this is my first one. I got this model because I was told it was an entry level bird..Ok, well I have had it since december and Its been on the bench for repairs more than its been in the air.. Whats happening is, Im breaking parts trying to fix whats broke. In particular, twice now, Ive blown out the back of my Tailrotor motor trying to push on the tailrotor blade... Honestly, This is a stupid design, and the parts are really cheap.[:@]They break if you look at them wrong!! yeah Ive crashed a few times, but it seems that I break something else trying to fix crash damage... Should I buy a simulator???? Is this the wrong heli for a newbi??? I have been told if I can Fly an Axe, I can fly anything...Any truth to this??? Is there a trick to getting the tailrotor blade on without breaking the motor??? Well Im done venting....PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS....Im not giving up[>:]

Welcome to the hobby! Stick with it and you will live up to your screen name, BUT it does get better!!!!!!!! I too busted a few tail motors replacing them. It is tricky, but believe it or not it is not mission impossible. I have two solutions that I have found to work for me.

1. Get a vice and set one end on the back of the motor and the other on the outer side of the rotor blade. Then slowly turn the vice and it will go on slowly.
2. Lay the heli on it's side with the motor down and lay the back of the motor on something flat likea table or pice of wood. then using a hammer LIGHTLY tap the rotor on.

Doing it by hand for me almost always results in pushing the backend of the motor out. I think the reply you might get from a lot of people here might be to move to a belt driven heli and that will solve your problem. I started with a blade cp and couldn't get the thing to hover to save my life. I got the axe cpv3 and was hovering no problem on the first flight!!! I thought it was super easy, but that doesn't mean I didn't have my fair share of crashes. I got the free sims from the internet and they helped me, but for me it wasn't the same and really only helped with orientation which will be a result of many crashes unless you get that down.

Keep with it!!! It gets better

By the way if you are paying $25 for the tail motors STOP! The new Blade cp pro 2 uses the same n60 motor and you can buy it for $6 online!!!!

You were lied to. The Axe, or any 300 size tail motor heli, is not an entry level bird. You can learn with it, and it seems to be more newbie friendly than other similar sized helis, so the learning will actually be more learning than crashing. And yes, once you can fly the Axe, anything larger will be easy, because the bigger they are, the easier they are to fly. I won't say you should ditch it and get a 450 size to learn, but I will say once you get past hover and forward flight, if you want to go further into 3d or scale, you should consider at least a 450.
Yeah, were can he get these motors for $6.00? The cheapest I can find them for is $9.99 at horizonhobby.com.

Sorry should have said almost $7 still a lot cheaper than helimax's $25 motor. I ordered two but I have not had to use them yet. i am going on a long streak on not melting down a tail motor. Guess I should stop talking before I jinxed myself

Hey Guys,
Its almost like this thing needs adjusting every time i fly.. Different from one day to the next..Last Friday, I was actually getting my hover on a bit, and also tried a little forward flight. I quit for the day, feeling i had a good flying day, The next morning I flipped it first thing, and havent been able to tune it since... Im breaking motors, tailrotors, stripping screws out, Its a nightmare!! I just want to fly!!! Im tired of wrenching on this thing. I think Im addicted

Yes I have the same problem. Most settings stay but the tail trim moves on me every flight, even during flight as the battery dies I have to compensate with the trim. I have just gotten used to it and don't notice it . I just installed a HH gyro 2 weeks ago it takes half the flight to get it adjusted so I think I am going to rip it out and go back to stock. I had more fun with it.

first thing you need to do is get rid of it. put it on ebay. on your next heli dont buy anything that has a tail motor. get the one's that uses a belt drive. start with a 450 size and up.

I tried putting the linkage back one hole on the servo, and all that did was limit my trim to almost 0... I think I just need to make sure everything is level and setup properly. It just seems really squirrely when i try to hover, but maybe this is normal for this 300 class heli?

Yes, they are very quick and very unstable. You have to stay on top of inputs, and anticipate to a fair degree what the heli will do next. That will come with practice and flight time. In the meantime, you really should get yourself a sim, and follow Radd's School of Rotary Flight, read and reread the manual, and check with the folks in the helimax forum under electric rc helis on the main page. I am sure they will be able to straighten you out.
