Nope.
But those pesky door guns tend to shoot the tips off your main blades if you don't have traversing and elevation limiters on 'em...

Hmm, lets think about this for a minute-- a NEW poster with a screen name of PYromaniac first post
ask about installing rockets, bombs and any other (explosive, or incendiary) devices.
What ya think the chances are that you will get much info on said subject?? For one thing it is against AMA rules, for another, in this day and time of unknowing people attacking RC planes and heils in general thinking that somehow they can launch a terrorist attack using one, it it isnt a real good subject to discuss. FWIW I have known of some guys firing bottle rockets off the skids of a heli at an unauthorized non AMA sanctioned field. I'll bet it was a hoot-- but I wouldnt want to be the guy who was doing it with all the alarmist crying "The SKY IS FALLING" in the name of terrorist control. Who knows what crime they might pin on him,,, it could get serious if the wrong judge got ahold of it.
I imagine you are just some guy thinkin it would be cool to make an RC heli look like something Arnold S flies in the movies --- but then again you might be named Osamma [sm=wink.gif]

I doubt most folks would be even a little concerned about a pop bottle rocket.
It will void AMA insurance, but so does not putting your name and AMA # on your heli, flying while standing past the pilot line, bla bla bla..... big deal. If you live in a soggy state where pop bottle rockets is legal, go for it. Use estes molel rocket fuses, and a switch attached to the arm of a servo conected to an extra chanel. Be sure the fuse circuit has its oun battery, and you are good to go. Use common sense in setting it up and using it, check everything twice, and give it a go if it is going to make a weekend more interesting.

Rigging a Heli with rockets is illegal even in a state where fireworks are legal. Where the firework is used for other than the purpose it was designed for. True it is AMA policy not to do and it is also wrong to suggest Estes products since it is also against TRA and NAR policy. They spend a lot of time and money in washington trying to keep rocket motors off the BATF explosives list as it is. I understand you are talking about fireworks but a lot of people don't see that. TRA and NAR are the two Rocketry organizations that try their best to keep the rocketry hobby alive, fun and safe. It is hard enough to keep the government off Rocketry Clubs back by following the rules. It makes it harder when you take a fun hobby and turn it dangerous. It is a free country and what ever floats your boat. But if your rocket launching Heli hurts someone even yourself. You would be surprised as how it could hinder other peoples pleasures. Don't ask don't tell.

So you're either
a) Working with Steven Spielberg - which would get you some Kudos!
b) At war with the neighbours and looking for revenge - which would (eventually) get you locked up.
c) Just plain nuts - see b) above
Any which way, you're playing with fire - pun intended!

There was a previous big post on this a couple months ago. Sorry I don't have the time to search for it now,, at work. But try searching for it. I even added a link to a video, of a scratch built, I think he called it a companche (Comanche + apache). Nice job & it shoots rockets. I believe he's based in Saudi Arabia. Also on RR there's a video of a guy that has tons of fireworks shooting off his heli. Anyway, as long as its safely done, with no one around for miles, including the AMA, go for it. Hell the rotor blades on a heli are dangerous. A bottle rocket can't chop off a finger or a hand. I'm not saying they aren't dangerous, but they are fun when handled correctly, just like a heli

Also on RR there's a video of a guy that has tons of fireworks shooting off his heli. Thats me, both times we have done it,(it is a group effort to do it safely) we were on private property with owners consent. We were in the middle of a giant field with no structures within a mile. It had heavily rained within 24 hours of doing it, and both times, there was so much condensation in the air that I had to wipe the blades down after each flight.
My friend made an arming device that enables me to arm the system, then cycle a switch to fire the fireworks. For helis, the best thing is the funnels that shower sparks... All the other types of fireworks are not as visually pleasing.

I feel this can be safely done under the right circumstances. When doing this, understand that you take full liability if something goes wrong.

Hey Spiff!
Here's the link to the RR thread:

There's also a very cool picture, first one. I use it as my wallpaper on the PC. Its a scale heli, with the fire from the heli that burned behind it.
