Hey guys Just don't pull them off. Light a match and wave it out and real fast put the still hot match head on the ticks body then pull the tick off and step on it. This is so the tick will pull it's head out of the skin. if you get the body and do not get the head out you can still have a big problem with those blood suckers! Then use some alcohol on the bite. Hope this helps Jack.

you can also suffocate them with vaseline...put a heavy swab of vaseline on them and in 5 minutes or so they usually let go and fall off or you can pull them off easily...some people use cigarrettes to burn them off too..

Ok you guys are going to think I am nuts (some of you are sure I'm nuts) but I have a friend that is a vet and she told me if you give your pet brewers yeast it makes ticks stay away. I am not sure if there is anything that humans can take to cause the same effect. Any vets out there that have heard of that????

here in the Ozarks we use Diazanon, there is talk about taking it off the market but currently it is still available. We use a 5% granule type and spread it with a broadcast seeder. It is harmless to people for the most part but works best when applied before a rain or if you water after application.
The bag probably has all the appropriate warnings on it

See WebMD - Tick Bites -- Home Treatment
Also see WebMD - How to Defend Yourself (from ticks)
While the tick is attached to your skin, do not try to smother it with petroleum jelly, nail polish, gasoline, or rubbing alcohol. This may increase your risk of infection. Do not try to burn the tick while it is attached to your skin.

been to joplin a couple of times they got a company there that makes shooting clays out of real dirt. They are 100% bio-degradable cause they are dirt.
I have a farm so can't treat the entire acreage and my dog picks up ticks when he is outside the treated area. The best way to keep them down then is to have a flock of rouge mutant chickens. When a full tick falls off in the yard the chickens eat it before it can lay eggs
