Default Serious question

Ok, ive been flying my Raptor 30 V2 for awhile now but i feel the need for more power!! Should i progress with the 50, 60, or go for the 90???? Fuel is not a problem, i dont care how much it burns, the thrill of heli flight has got a firm grip on me

As i see it the 50 is just a little bigger then the 30, the 60 looks awesome, but the 90 looks like the holy grail!!
I dont want to "exceed my abilitys" but i want a machine i can grow with, not just learn on and need to upgrade(been there).

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Happy Flyin

There's not much more to explain Ironically, the bigger ships will not cause you to "exceed your ability" since they are actually easier to fly. The only drawback to bigger is more expensive. Since your Uncle seems to be Donald Trump, log on and hit "Buy it NOW".

No my uncle is not donald trump...LOL!! I just dont want to waste money on a machine i know i will outgrow!!! The 30 just does not have the UMPH!!! My Eco 8 with a brushless motor has more Bal*s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kind of like a PC, i have built my own systems for years now, as long as it can do what i want it to do its fine, im a big gammer, i
love 3d graphics, P-4 3.0 GHZ, 1 Gb DDR 400 ram ,ATI 9800XT video card, 10,000 r.p.m. SATA hard drives in a striped arrray.. etc. etc etc. , add that up, and thats just the last build(at least 6 systems before it)!!! And now its about to be put to pasture!!!
Im hoping i can avoid all that with the right choice in my next heli!!! I can fly nose in ,backwards, sideways etc, anyway for that fact(except inverted, thats the next step )

I dont want to come on as im rich ,damn im not!!! Rich people dont ask questons

So the question still looms, maybe its not even a Raptor helicopter!!!!

That was a real help.....NOT!!!!!

What do you fly???? I dont have anyone local to help so ive learned on my own(with alot of help from forums like this).

I know the bigger the easier, that was not what my question was about!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am just curious as to what heli i can move up to and keep, since i have no experience with them i thought input from the good people on this forum would help!!!! If i had the cash i would buy them all and then pick the one i wanted!!!!

tough question to answer.

I have two of the raptor 50's great performance and low maintinence. works for me. the upgrade is expensive though, might be best to sell the 30 and start with a new 50 kit.

I have bought a frea 90 recently, haven't flown it, but from what i see and hear of freinds who have one it seems noticabley more stable, and seems to flip in kinda slow motion compared to the 50 so it seems like it will be easier to fly.... sorry, i can't offer a definitive answer, except to say if you think you need more power, you are right, and you would probably love any of the helis you are thinking of.

Oh, I think I understand the question. Now you want a power-heli and something that you can't outgrow, skill wize.

I'm a beginner, so my expertise in this area is limited to what I read here on RCU and a few other heli forums out there. Here are some choices:

Bergen [link=http://www.bergenrc.com/Intrepid60.asp]Intrepid 60 3D[/link]
Pros: Metal or carbon everywhere. If you believe that you get what you pay for, then expect to get a fine ship. Another Bergen model to look at is the Intrepid Gas. I hope to own an Observer some day.
Cons: Just about the most expensive helis you can buy. If you believe that you get what you pay for, then...

Miniature Aircraft [link=http://www.miniatureaircraftusa.com/store/brochures/Tempest_3D_Brochure.pdf]X-Cell Fury Tempest 3D[/link]
Pros: Metal. The most beautiful head I've seen. Downright classy. CCPM.
Cons: It has the longest name of any heli I've heard of.

JR [link=http://horizon.hobbyshopnow.com/products/description.asp?Prod=JRP9051]Vigor CS CCPM[/link]
Pros: I've seen one of these fly. It is the smoothest flying machine I have ever seen. This is the only ship I know of that can be configured with the 140deg CCPM. Also, try to find a JR Sylphide 90. I haven't been able to track one down, but it looks like it is beyond the high-end.
Cons: You need a high-end radio to do 140deg CCPM. However the Vigor can also do 120 deg which many radios have. BTW, only Curtis would even notice the difference, but it can be fun to have something unique.

Thunder Tiger [link=http://www.onlyraptors.com/raptor90std.htm]Raptor 90 STD [/link]
Pros: The obvious choice for the cost conscious. Still, this is what Alan Szabo flies, so it is definitely good enough. Spare parts are available everwhere (unlike the others above). Upgrades are made by everyone and can be found anywhere. Also see the Raptor 90 SE with a fist full of upgrades.
Cons: At half the price of the others, I can't really think of any cons that matter.

Honorable mentions:

[link=http://www.centuryheli.com/products/helikits/cn1100Predator/index1301.htm]Century Predator Max 90[/link]

In the end, only you can decide what you like to fly. Check all these out. I would love to have any of them.

Hi David,

If you can afford the price of the heli, go for a .90 unless you want to have an entire collection of helis. I did that step one month ago: I flown a Caliber 30 for a little than one year and it's power doesn't allow me to progress so fast anymore, then I decided to by a Three Dee NT (with Loetterle Carb low nitro, so that the consumption of fuel doesn't hurt more than the Caliber 30). With such a beast (.90) you can higher (thanks too the visibility) and link all the figures you want without giving some rest to the engine from time to time. I don't have all the skills to take advantage of all the possibilites of this new heli, but it's for that goal (=progress), that I bougt it and it is worth it. You will notice, that the inertie is one of the big advantage that you haven't with a .30 (e.g. for safer autorot, broader figures,...).

Have fun

Thanks all!!!

I am going to stay with the raptor series, parts availability is a must for me, tryng inverted!!!
I can do it in RFG2 all day, but i dont think my raptor 30 could handle it so low to the ground!!!

The 90 isnt that expensive , if you compare it to buying a 30, then 50, then 60...etc. so im going for it!!!

Thanks again. I look forward to posting my first pic of inverted flight!!!!
