Why do we bother?

I just finished placing an order for some new parts to resurrect my old Concept 30 (again). New gears, bearings, clutch parts, the works. This is probably the first time I've had "buyers' remorse" from getting heli parts and I'm wandering how many of you guys find yourself spending lots of money to restore an old heap that you barely fly anyway? With all the shiny new helis you have sitting around, what makes you think that keeping an outdated machine in top shape is a good idea?
I think it's the sentimental value for me. I can get rid of most anything else (cars, planes, women) and not give it a second thought, but l just can't let my first heli die peacefully[&o].
What really amazed me is that you can still find new parts for that thing! Oh, and now I've gotta go find a set of carbon mains for it
.
Keep 'em flyin folks, (the old and the new)!
Ben

Looking at the pic of your Fury I can see why you're asking yourself this, but I think it's perfectly normal. My old Sig Mid Star 40 (first sport/trainer) is still sitting up in my garage, stripped of engine and radio but I just know that someday I'll get it back in the air.

I don't fix the old ones. I sold them all. I do order a lot of parts for my rappy 70, but it tends to be more upgrades than anything. I was just going through some statements last night and didn't even realize I had ordered 3 times from heliproz last month, all upgrades, and always $150 to $200. Gotta watch that. Quit upgrading the darn thing, I could get a new one! Then I would just have to upgrade that one though.

Those upgrades can be a real sneaky about emptying your wallet! I've sunk a bunch of money into my old Xcell ST recently too. A guy I know used to go shopping and come home empty handed all the time. When you ask hime if he bought anything, he'd say that he didn't see anything that he liked better than money. I think I'm starting to like carbon fiber better than money.
