Default Rough thrust bearing.

Will a rough thrust bearing cause my main rotor blades to work GREAT sometimes and go out of track and get very little lift other times?

Yes. What happens is that the thrust bearing can't handle the load upon spool up, gets stuck, and won't allow the servo to turn the blade(s) up to increase its angle of attack, therefore, no lift, or tracking will be off. I have had this happen to me once on a sixty size heli.

Very possible is that its shifting (slack) thus changine everything. I had a Nexus long ag you could fly it and the tracking was perect. But after you sat it down and hover again my tracking was out of wack.
Check:
Thrust bearings installed backwards
Loose bolt in head
Check Head Block Condition
Lube & chk. rubber dampners
Bearings In Blade Grips
Swashplate wear

Check:
Thrust bearings installed backwards---CHECK - They are fine.
Loose bolt in head---CHECK - I thought that was it once.
Check Head Block Condition---????? How can I tell?
Lube & chk. rubber dampners---CHECK New ones AND they are lubed
Bearings In Blade Grips---CHECK One bad thrust bearing - missing a BB.
Swashplate wear---CHECK No wear

I have have a bad thrust bearing for sure. I just wanted to see if maybe it was something else. The other bearings in my head are A-OK.

ACK!!! NOT AGAIN!!!!!!!!!

I just had a tip over!!! I was hovering around and doing full thorttle climbouts to adjust my heli when upon taking off from an engine adjustment the tail got stuck in a clump of grass. I gave it a lot of power on the take off for fun and not knowing the tail was stuck it did a sort of tail stand and fliped into the ground! Broke my blades, O-links, 2 linkages, spindle, and just about my wallet <> RIGHT AFTER I got my crash kit installed! ACK!!!!

That's just not fair! I need a larger vertical fin, the one I have is too small for my Raptor.

Oh, well. At least I can save on fuel for another week of waiting. :stupid:

Default Rough thrust bearing.

Time to get new blades, a new spindle, some links, O links, and THRUST BEARINGS. There goes another $60.
