It can be done, but you will not be pulling all the way down on the stick. So the negative will not do you any good at all. I would be carefull doing this, as it is easy to get into trouble. However, if done right, it is not to hard to do. I have done large loops without even pulling back on the collective at all. Just make sure you don't pull the collective all the way back (Or even close) as this will bring you to an idle, thereby not doing your head speed any good at all. Good luck, and enjoy.

Oh by the way. Why not just settup an idle up? It is not to dificult at all, and will help out with this type of situation. Just a thought though.

Default thanks for reply

i do have my idle up set up but ive been flying for a while and have never hit the switch--just a little worried because i dont know how much differant the heli is going to react.--never have used idle up--can do foward flight, nose-in,etc.--pretty comfortable with normal flying but now want to try some loops first and then move on from there....any thoughts on the proper idle up settings?.......joe

Default idle-up

One of the most nerve wracking things I ever did was go to idle-up 1 and 2. It was really a letdown. Make the pitch curves identical in 1 and throttle at full down equal to a little more than hover throttle to just fly around. At first make 1 and 2 identical so if you throw the switch too far. I later made full down so it would climb very slowly inverted. Idle 2 was a piece of cake. Just be climbing out when you go from 1 to 2. The heli will drop if you hover mid stick in norm and 1 and hover at 3/4 in idle up 2. I have not made the transition to all hover at 3/4. I will probably reset everything after the winter break and start over. Good luck.

For the first time just land, switch to idle up and fly!

I only start in Norm. Once on the field I am either in Idle1 or 2.

I've done loops at full collective the whole way around before. They didn't look to bad either!
