I am looking to get into RC Helicopters and have a store near where I live called Quick Wordwide. Does anyone know anything about them and their reputation. Additionally can anyone make any suggestions if they are not reputible as to what helicopter I should purchase as a beginner.

if its the quick world wide that sells more heli upgrades rather then a family small business that sells helicopters then they aren't as good as 'quick uk'
quick world wide are a different company to quick uk plus the gear from quick world wide has often got issues regarding the quality and some people have mentioned on this forum that there was more play or slop in the units then the standard plastic head or units ect..
but if this shop you have visited is a shop that just has the same name ( quick world wide ) then i cannt answer if they are a good shop or not...
most of us pilots will recommend a raptor 30 or 50 as a good heli as it will take you from beginner to 3d pilot..

Marakovits,
I don't know why everyone blasts QWW. Yes, Irwin (the owner) is an extrovert and is never short of words. He is very street smart and he is an entrepreneur. And people have bashed Irwin and his products relentlessly and have been very insulting to him. But I find Irwin and his staff to be pleasant, helpful and informative.
As far as the helicopters from QWW, my wife just bought me a Quick Pro 50 for my birthday (boy I love her). And the heli looks like a beautiful piece of machinery. To get the equivalent in a Raptor you would have to spend allot of money on bling.
Truth be told, I have been flying a Raptor 30V2 and a Raptor Titan. I wanted something different so I went down and talked to Irwin (about a 20 minute drive from my house). A search on this website and runryder.com revealed some very negative posts regarding missing pieces and quality problems. But most of the problems seem to have been rectified by QWW immediatly. If you think that you are going to get a Raptor or some other heli and not have missing pieces or some other problem you better think again. And at least in my case and your case we are just a few minutes away from Coopersberg.
What I am saying here is that QWW may have had quality problems in the past but they seem to stand behind their product. And they are a few miles from where you live. So, if they have something that you like, I would buy it. If not, buy something else.
Enjoy the hobby,
Jim

Racer8297,
If you push your helis hard (hard 3D) I will be very interested in your comparison of the Rappy 50 Titan and the QWW 50 after you have about 100 flights on each.
Simply because, after 20 plus years of flying R/C helicopters, I have found it is not how well it looks that is the proof of the pudding, it is how well the heli performs and holds up (how few issues develop) after at least 100 flights (preferably 300 plus flights).

Hi Syclic,
I definitely understand what you are saying. And I agree! For sure the Quick is a heavier bird and most probably won't have the same flight characteristics as the Rappy 50 Titan. But I would not have wanted it if the Quick was the same.
I guess my point was that as soon as anyone mentions QWW or Hobbies and Helis there are a plethora of negative posts. And having spent a month reading through the posts on this site and Runryder.com and also having met Irwin I came to the conclusion that QWW may have had quality issues in the past and maybe Irwin could have been friendlier but everyone deserves a second chance. I pm'd with people on Runryder that fly the QWW helis as well as other helis and came to the conclusion that these helis deserve another look.
It is my belief that Irwin is trying hard and has made a 100% turn around from the attitudes that were ingrained in peoples minds. This hobby is a very small community, especially the heli end of it. We have the power to make or ruin a business (human being). And in all reality, QWW would NOT be in business today if they were as bad as people make them out to be. My suspision is that Irwin will be in business for a long time to come and that would not be true if he did not have a large following.
Also, I think that people blow QWW off right away not based on personal experience but rather on what they have read. Which is hearsay. Which is usually inadmissable in a court of law (I've heard, hehe).
I will be building the Quick Pro 50 over the winter (I have a GS P51 on the bench now) and I will post opinion of the heli in the spring.
Best to all,
Jim
