I am running a hirobo lama with a thunder tiger .46 and I keep replacing the one way bearing in the clutch shue. could it be that the thunder tiger .46 has too much compression for it? or should I replace the starter shaft. Either way I am open for suggestions, I would love to fly instead of wrenching.....

I can't speak for the Lama itself but two
things you want to be sure of:
1. lubricate the bearing w/ a light oil, not
a thick grease.
2. Always make sure to clip off the fuel
supply (ie. do not allow the engine to flood).
In some machines, they use a 30 size bearing which is marginal for 46 use and
when you try to start a flooded engine,
it just blows out the bearing. Ask any
TSK46 owner about that.

UPDATE: I took my starter shaft and clutch bell off today and the part of the shaft that goes into the bearing was very ruff to say the least. I took it into my work where I have access to a machine shop, I put the shaft in the lathe and emory clothed the shaft I hope this will fix it till I can get a new one. It seems to work much better in the bearing now alot more smoother than before. I also noticed a little wear on my clutch bell so I put a larger diameter washer on it.

I have the same problem with my shuttle zxx. Every time I start the thing, the socket comes loose!! It's almost like there's not a one way bearing in there. Very annoying! Any advice?!?
Thanks,
Matt

OH NO!, I got it all back together and turned the motor over a few times without the glow pug to make sure everything was ok. It was, then I put my finger over the muffler to get fuel up to the carb and put the glow on and spun the bearing AGAIN! what is going on here?????

My 1 way bearing on my GPH loosens up a lot too. What I will be doing this week is switching the system over to the flexible starting system from Raves Designs (same as Miniature Aircraft) I am waiting for the 4mm to 6mm adapter to come in which will replace the 1 way bearing. The flex starer is attached to my starter. This will resolve all the issues. I will also be doing this setup on my Freya. If you would like to see what this system looks like, email me privately. Thanx Evan for the info, I think I am going to pull the starter shaft out again and take it to a machine shop to have one turned to my the right specs. I measured the one I have now and it is supposed to be a 4mm shaft with a 6mm end on it and mine measures around 5.65mm instead of 6mm. I have a new clutch shue on order it comes with a one-way in it . my parts come from altech so it will be awhile they are pretty slow. But for now I am going to put another one-way in the clutch shue I have now and with the new starter shaft I HOPE this will correct the problem . If it don't my next option will be the flex shaft system.

HELLO EVERYONE!
Hope everyone is getting all the help and advice they need to get their heli's airborne. I have been away for sometime for my own servicing (sort of speak) the 'ol ticker had a pretty big hole in it and I had to get it patched up. KUDOS! to the surgeons and staff at Methodist hospital Indianapolis they did a wonderful job. As for my bearing problem it is now fixed, it wasn't the bearing after all it was the starter shaft, I picked the new one up from the machine shop and it is working great! I have learned a huge lesson in tolorences if it says 6mm it means 6mm not 5.85mm or even 5.99mm please be sure to check and I hope this helps.
