Ok after looking at the machine, I would guess that one of the two motors has gone bad.
The Hirobo Lama with the same counter rotating set-up will do the same thing after a period of time the motors just wear out. Since both motors have to work as a pair to avoid tourqe - if one motor gets weak, the machine will only spin, which is the reason I asked you if it would lift off the ground.

i have only had the thing working for 3weeks. the only two motors it has are the main 1 for the blades + smaller 1 for the tail rotor.

Ok I now see its a different ser-up then the Hirobo which uses two motors on the main rotor system - well if it has a tail rotor it has to have a gyro to stabilize it, so it could be either the gyro which is built into the reciever board and more than likely not replaceable or the tail rotor motor.
Is there a trim for the tail rotor on the trans - if so does it make any difference when you move it?

there is not a separate gyro, so it must be building in. i have tried adjusting the trim + even if i use the controlled to counter act the spinning their is not enough power on the tail rotor to stabalise the spin.
thanks

solution at last, stripped it + noticed the outer shaft connecting lower blades to gears had actually broken at the gear so when the lower blades were turning it was only due to friction + not by the gears, stripped + a bit of glue + i'm back in business, thanks for all of your help.
