Okay, had my first crash the other day. Not a major one, had minimal damage. Only needed to replace the blades, spindle and an aileron and elevator link. After giving a look over and replacing the needed parts I have found that I hear a clicking sound coming from the clutch.....I think. Also I have noticed that no matter which way I spin the main rotor the tail rotor spins where as before it did not. The main shaft was still perfectly straight post crash, there are no missing gear teeth. I spun the rotor head and listened to the engine thinking it may be a broken crank but it is definately coming from the clutch area. The heli will also start with no problem and spool up no different then it did before. I'm thinking there must some type of damage to the clutch?
Any suggestions???
Thanks ahead of time.

In my opinion (which i am still kinda green to heli's as well), it could be either the one way clutch bearing is somehow messed up and locked onto the mainshaft, or it is the clutch itself, with possibly a sprung clutch or even the clutch shoe is broken. I bet if you drop the engine you will get your answer. It only takes 5-10 minutes to drop the engine out, better to be safe than sorry!

Dropped the motor. The clutch was in good shape as was the liner. The start shaft was straight with no wobble. I did notice some dust inside the bell so I cleaned it out. Put it back together and noise was gone.
I hovered for a few minutes and all seems well.
Thanks again.
