Is there a better one, like a billet aluminum ?.

After I mount mine on the metal arm I put a piece of shrink wrap from the top of the sensor clear down past it on the metal arm. It seems to strengthen it up quite a bit.

yahh what i did the first time after it fell apart was use dental floss and ca and wraped it. with the new 91 it just could not take the pounding of a rich engine and broke in half this time.

Yeah, that is a weak link. I've heard of the dental floss and CA but think the heat shrink tubing is much stronger. You can put one piece over the metal bracket up to the sensor housing covering the screws then another from the top down to cover everything again.

You can use an optical sensor and mount it to the same bracket. Then all you need is a piece of foil on the bottom of the fan for the sensor to read. You can go to www.runryder.com and search the archives and all the info is there about the optical sensor

Vince,

I know the sensor housing is available seperatly as I remember someone discussing it. You might want to give the Futaba service center a call.

Hey David, how's your optical sensor working? After a bit of trial and error with mounting the foil (I think the foil has the same coating as Bill Clinton...almost nothing sticks to it!) we have the two originals and two more in Shreveport, they all work great! The one I like most is the Futura SE whith the .80...OMG, I LUV this thing...now if I can get the SE with the .60 to smoke I can get another .80 (like I can find another 24 tooth clutch bell...) Chris
