i have a Gaui 500 with everything stock. I was flying the other day - just simple hovering and the power just CUT! ... i checked batteries and they seem fine. Checked cables and they seem fine too. When i try to power up heli the motor will act as though it is going to spool up for a little then it just shuts off.....any ideas what this could possibly be?
thanks

it sounds like it's either the esc or motor, any spares to check it? you can check to see if it's the esc with a voltmeter.

If you are using 2 batteries in series, you might want to check all connections. I had this happen to my TRex 500 and found one of my solder joints on my "Y" series was starting to break off. Just a thought.

i was tugging on the wires and not sure i had just hit the gym a little too much this week
but one was in fact loose - so i will re-solder them then see if she works - if not i will then proceed to esc.
thanks again guys

You will need a draw on the esc to check it. Try plugging the motor wires in only half-way, then hook a volt meter to the connectors while spooling it up and see how much voltage you have to the motor. With fully charged lipos you should have about 25 volts to the motor.

Had the same thing happen with mine when I first got it. About 5 flights in the stock ESC gave up the ghost (10 feet in the air). I replaced it with an Align and havent had a problem since.

I used the 60 or 75 I'm not sure which and I dont have the Heli with me right now. I think it was the 75 but I'm not sure.
As far as the other ones you posted go I have not tried them. I wouldnt go with some fly by night brand unless I knew someone how used it, the esc goes and you will get a crash course in auto's[X(]

I am still using the stock Gaui esc right now, but I don't have too many flights on my Hurri yet. On one of the other forums that I frequent, there are alot of Hurri 550 owners and it seems that the Align 75 A is the most popular one that people use.

You might want to consider swapping that stock one out. When mine went it was from about 20 feet , my 1st auto. Tail boom strike and a set of landing gear as i recall.
