hi amigos,,, i just installed the new air speed sensor from jet central, on my bandit arf with the new CHEETAH turbine

i did the first flight with the speed limiter off, so i could see how much speed the bandit can reach with the cheetah

the climb with this turbine is endless, it never stop climbing

i did got this reading what do you think?

the second fligth i did limited the speed to 220 mph, so when im on a climb, the turbine pushes all its power and reduce when needed

the result was awesome, y did some giant loops, and the feeling of the speed sensor controling the aceleration was great

i got 8 minutes of fligth with the super bandit fuel cells, and the third fuel tank still a little more than half full

so i think i can get a minute more of fligth

i really liked the speed sensor feeling

i will post the result of the next sunday fligths

First off, let's take note that paulhelis is in Mexico where the 200mph rule doesn't apply (before anyone jumps on him for posting proof that flew faster than 200).

The Bandit ARF airframe is really not designed to safely go faster than 200 (as it says on the front page of the manual) so one has to question the wisdom of disregarding the manufacturer's recommendations/warnings.

Back in the day (prior to the 200mph rule), my classic Bandit did 252mph (two way average on radar) at FIJR with a RAM750 turbine so you're not doing anything new here.

Be very very careful please if you are trying to do speed runs. They are dangerous which is one of the reasons for them being outlawed at US turbine events. I'm sure we all don't want anybody to fold their wings or otherwise blow apart their plane.

yes i know the arf is not good enough for high speed, i had a diamond back barf with a ram 1000x and gues what? the wings exploded on the air, the fuse went like a rocket and keep fliyng for al least 250 meters more, also i was lucky to hit a agricultural water channel, it was spectacular but hurts a little, hehe lost all equipment because of the water

but i will try to do it the most safe posible, i did some reinforcement to the critic parts of the barf, i did put a little weigth but no problem

i did seal the wing leading edge that is the most dangerous part

also reglued with aeropoxy all the formers and joints, dont worry im not a beginer but i like the adrenaline

i loved the scheme of your composite bandit i did painted my viper that scheme

i have had and flied all bandit versions, and love the way they perform

the most i did measured was on a composite bandit with a radar gun, was 249mph, it was using a ram 1000x for power

i went today to the fliyng field beacuse none is there on fridays also i do the fast pases on a way that if explodes ( hope not again) hehe, it doesnt cause damage to anything

works good

I have a new BVM P-70 by-pass painted. Not using it anymore as the P-120 by-pass turbine have a better envelope.
