Spoken like a true liberal. Report me for what, freedom of speach it's a first amendment right. Just because you disagree with what I said you try to stifel me. Go ahead report me it just shows what you liberals are all about. You guys can't debate the issues anyway, why do you bother.
You must have been one of those wimpy kids who always went and told his dad when you got picked on.
I pitty you.

I am confused you speak as if being a liberal is a dirty word. I thought it was just another view of things. The sort of thing that would be promoted by a person that believes in freedom of speach and the 1st Amendment.

Please also dont fall into the trap and call us Europeans (That was a little trap I set and you plopped into it). Europe is made up of many countries and each person is from one of those countries not from Europe. Do try harder to not let yourself down.

Judging by a good share of the posts here it appears that I have blundered into a kindergarden class.
I was wondering why I see so many negative posts about RCU and it's hostile content. I now see why

There are some of us out here that are sidelined by the threat to jets so a poll was interesting. I don't think it did a darn thing about predicting the future. Jet pilots all voted yes, and others voted no, I suspect. I would love to have a jet, but right now it is kind of risky to purchase...Oh hell, I would probably crash it in a year anyway.

Several people here are right about standing together. It is not a demo/repub issue, it is a TSA issue and they are rapidly remapping/removing our rights as citizens. A jet powered plane in the wrong hands could do some real bad things. I think the solution is to inform the public what to be looking for with jets and FPV overflights. Even a motor mounted on a foam coffee cup has potential for misuse.

What would you do if you saw someone getting ready to put up a jet in a congested area? What would you do if you saw FPV equipment setup along the Hudson? Are you willing to intercede and stop someone and call authorities? Hard to say who the good guys are anymore. How do you know if someone is really technically capable of doing the NY flight safely? That Austrian's website indicates a lot of experience. His judgment is questionable.

well, if i saw a jet getting ready to go up in a congested area i guess i would do the same if i saw a cub doing the same. but i would be more worried about the cub. so how long do you think a jet can fly? how much room does it need to get airborn? how good are these FPV guys when flying 150mph jet vs a foamy with a lite wing loading? what is the duration of a jet? range? i havent seen a drug smuggler using a jet to get his drugs across the border, but i have read accounts were large gassers are used. the cub could stay airborn for a very long time and carry quite the payload and need very little room to take off. all of that being said, this has never been done. so why all the fuss. lets ban vans, that is what was used last time a terrorist did something. how about this, lets not let into this country questionable people. i feel bad for them, but first show me you can run your show in your home country. then, maybe then, we will let you come here. instead, it is an open door and we must lose our freedoms so they can be here. the world is upside down. barry

ps you wont hear that discussion in a kindergarten class my friend

You are correct... any aircraft has military/terrorist value no matter speed or size. They do make larger Kero tanks. Vans should be banned, too darn many soccer moms drive them. I had no immigration comment, so why you going there? The NCY flier had some great video flying in the alps, that was all that I saw. I saw a similarity of mountains to tall buildings and flying the valleys.

immigration comment, i dont know why. maybe, because almost 90 plus percent of the terrorist acts around here are by immigrants. certainly 100% were on 9/11. would you not agree? i am speaking of course of profiling certain immigrants. barry

Not so sure your 90 plus percent number will hold water. The Oklahoma bombing was perpetrated by locals... A lot of the morans arrested before they were able to cause damage here were Americans. I clearely remember a Puertorican and an African American arrested for attemting terrorist acts. Heck there even is an American Taliban in charge of the propaganda of those people.

You also state that 100% of the terrorist on 9/11 were immigrants. I much doubt this statemet too. By definition Immigrant is somebody that enters a country to settle there. There is a big difference between somebody that is a tourist, and an immigrant. Or an immigrant and a temporary student visa holder.

My 2 cents

I really pity the ones that think this is a Republican or a Democrat issue. Grow up, this is like the sun, it afects us all the same...

What's wrong with you Europeans? We crash all the time - frankly speak for yourself, I don't crash at all.
You’re typical of most Europeans who want to ban what you’re not good at, and for that matter ban all the fun in life.
Turbines won't be banned in the U.S, because contrary to your solcialist way of life we have the freedom in the states to do what we want, when we want and how we want.
We stood the attack of your socialist pig world order, and we defeated your policies in the November election.
Just because you idiots sit around and drink and watch your stupid sport of soccer and beat the crap out of each other in your drunken rage when you loose, doesn't give you the right to tell us what's going on.

Down the Brits!

gerkonig, your splitting hairs. call the 9/11 terrorist what you wish. but they were not lil ol granny in wheel chairs. nor did i make it a repub vs dem discussion. that is how you interpretted it. i look at it this way. if i see granny coming on board the airliner, i am not so worried. if i see a nervous type from say yemin, i might be more worried. i feel bad the guy for being nervous, but it is what it is. and i know there are some home grown ones too. so i shall say if anyone comes on an airline looking nervous it too will get my attention. barry

I can now undestand his bitterness to our friends across the pond.
Living in Teaneck N.J., it may be about time to drop the 234 year old grudge from the Battle of Fort Washington. Let it go, Chip. [8D]

He is right when he says ignoring the problem, won't make it go away. I've seen this way to many times with this hobby, from safety issues to now with the FAA. Some figure if they just don't do anything, then nothing will happen. It's when you don't do anything, when it will happen.

When it's all said and done, this is a hobby, it's not a right. The day will come when a lot of you will need to take up another hobby.

Hopefully the FAA will do whats best and easiest... for the FAA ....and just raise the minimums to 1000ft AGL.

Above 1000ft AGl is commercial: includes uavs/uas's and any other Govt /corporate manned or unmanned aircraft.

Below 1000ft AGL is recreational use. RC/ultralights/rockets/kite flying/site seeing ballons(unless they proceed above 1000Ft)

AirSpace used for approach/departures near airports would have Exceptions as required.

Commercial use under 1000ft would and should require an FAA wavier. Example (Arial photography)

Of course we are asking a gov't entity to use common sense and logic to parceling out airspace and set a workable policy.

Aircraft seperation is not rocket science, its been done for years.

I could see the freeflight guys getting totally screwed as those aircraft have NO control at all and often end up over 1000ft and can end up miles downrange. (Faa wavier and Notam required for events)

Hope for the best as the worst is ...not acceptable.

The voting trend shows that we have faith in our fellow aviation brothers running the FAA..NOT to screw us.
I bet there are alot of Modelers and former modelers "on the inside of the FAA".
Which would make them on OUR SIDE. As most in full scale aviation did lots of time in model aviation.
