Basically, you need to mount it how you like to, then do alot of range checks, with and without ECU plugged in to see if there is a diff. Engine running and not, ect...

GTKERR,

I have a revolution mounted vertically inside my Kangaroo without any range degredation what-so-ever. Matter of fact, i'm getting 30' more range with the revolution over the stock wire antenna. The only issue with mounting inside the fuse would be if there is any carbon fiber in the nose of your bird (which I doubt) which will cause range problems. I did test the antenna in the horizontal position as well with no diffrence in range but chose to go vertical due to the location I choose to mount it. As always, perform extensive range testing before flying!! BTW, I also tested the length of the receiver wire which is supposed to be 4" cut to 10" which had no change in range, thus giving you more options on mounting locations in relationship to the receiver. The Deans antenna suggest this range of length (4-10") for theirs and thought I would test this option on the revolution.

I have one on my Roo, but it is mounted externally just in front of the canopy. Someone on RCU has shown pictures of one mounted vertically just under the canopy of a Roo. Mine works great. I'm fixing to install my upgraded JetCat ECU and range test.

Default mounted vertically internally?

Todd:

How on earth did you mount your antenna vertically inside a Roo?

Hey Antony,
Actaully, quite simple since the roo has such a high arch on the canopy it fits rigt under it, see picture below.... Have you started that spot of yours yet?

Sorry Adil,

The antenna is made by Revolution, available from Horizon Hobby (available other places, not sure who though).
You can find it here:

Default cool install!

Hey Todd:

That's a cool antenna installation! I will file that one away for future use.

You bet I have started the HotSpot. If all goes as planned I would like to be "waiverized" and flying it at the Maine Jet Rally in September. Hopefully we have good flying weather this year that will help me get there.

Default antenna test

This is for info only.I installed the horizon Revolution antenna in my BVM Sabre. It is mounted in the nose horizontally. It range ck'd at 200' with transmitter antenna off & with engine off and also running.I did not walk out any further so I don't know the maximum range, but at 200',it should do the job.The receiver is a 950 JR and a 10 SX II transmitter.Receiver antenna is cut at 4'' as per instructions.
