tam , i start building the canopy and your struts with brakes . do you have any tricks for tuning brakes. when i apply air pressure then stop, the wheels stay lock !!!

The brake should release after you start rolling few feet.
Also not check if you got the axels too tight again the wheels.
Always apply little silicone lube on the brake once awhile. That kept the brake from locking and flat spot your tires.

Hi All,
Started to build the Habu with the Motor and Rotors conversion kit.
Was fiddling around with the tank, and just a taught, should i cut open the duct's so the tank moves more backwards so it ends up closer to the CG?
Or just plunge it in there the way everyone did and it will be just fine?
Cheers,
Ed

It is infront of the balance and first part of the flight is nose heavy...but its all controllable and not worth messing with. Test flew an EDF Habu 32 today, while since I flew one and its still a great airframe.

Result of today,
- all wing servo's mounted and ail. installed.
- canopy changes made (3 pins on front and extend locking pin)
- rudder horn installed
Not bad for an afternoon
Woud like to post pic. but how the f... does that work???

Go to the reply button on this post and at the bottom of the post box will be a blue 'Click here to upload images and files" click on it and a small window will open asking you to "choose files", click on the first button and your Computer screen will open, find your pics, highlight and click OK, then wait for the conformation button to appear, click OK again and it should be on your next post.

Mounted my main landing gear,
Thing now is, if the LG is retracted the legs stick out slightly above the wing surface just at the end near the bend to the wheel.
Cut down the extend bit of the strut so it's flush with the wheel locking ring.
When retracted the leg falls in to the small slot on the black plastic maganism of the retract so it's all the way down an cant go any further??
Looks like i have to raise the mounting plate on the far side away from the wheel to get the end in the well, but this will make the mounting plate unstable.
Wheel axel lays to wheel well, so that's in contact and can't go further down?

With the big EDF inlets don't worry about such tiny drag issues. Flying on grass I occasionally snagged a wheel on takeoff and bend the leg enough for the wheel to not fully retract, the Habu is one of the least affected models I have flown.

Thanks Dave,
Cracking on then, Going pretty well so far, although it's quite a fiddle if you got hands of my size
This heat protective coting that u used for the protection in the fuselage, what kinde of stuff is that?
The one u use on exhaust pipes for cars etc?
Or will the alu tape work as well?

Well Don't worry dave I'll reply here.
I'm going to build my haby with the new jetsmunt m35 with 35N, and I have few questions:
Can you tell me the total weight dry and full?
do you think with a 35N motor its overpower or will be perect?
Can you tell me your feelings flying this model with turbine is it critical?
When the model is full and you start to fly, do you feel something strage while you are flying while the fuel it's over?
and when you can please post the pic of how you fit the lipos inside the model.
thanks a lot.

With P-20 and my conversion 3.3kg dry and 3.85kg wet. It will be "well powered" As long as you don't keep the throttle wide open for complete circuits it should be fine. What weight is Gaspar quoting? Fuel capacity required could be a problem.
My aeroplane flew really well, I know Ali's was a little heavier than mine and still flew well, maybe some CROW needed on yours to slow for landing-what is the static thrust at idle?
No problem on mine full weight, the Habu is quite elevator (pitch) soft and aileron (roll) sharp, so expo on ailerons is good.
Best Regards

I think the total weight is 400-420gr at momtent no exact numbers, I don't know exactly.
and the static thrust at idle I don't know yet. As soon as I have more details I'll post it.
what do you mean about Fuel capacity required could be a problem? for the consumption of the turbine?
and what do you mean when you say CROW needed?
thanks dave

Getting more than 800mL in the Habu is a problem, how long will it fly with the 35N unit?
Raised ailerons with down flaps to add drag for landing

I know a couple of things that might help. Turbine thrust is worth twice the static of the EDF. A hot Tamjet 8S EDF setup will just reach the P20 level in terms of over all flight performance. P20 makes 24N on paper and a 8S EDF setup probably about double that. Still same over all flight experience. The 35N engine does wonders for takeoffs and adds extra punch when going vertical. The high drag of the aiframe makes full power not really useful inless on takeoff and for veritcals. Compare the 35N engine to a 12S EDF setup.
We use 40mm pipes for our 35N setups with no problems so far. Thrust is keept and EGT is the same. We did alot of tail mounting before but now we use pipe for almost all installs. The diffrence are not huge, but everything counts (I know Dave hinted about this when we still were tail mounting the turbines)
I also know that weight is important. You might think the extra weight of the heavier engine is all there is, but as the engine always sits behind CG it's not the full truth. I got a couple of examples where a P20 powerd plane comes out 21oz heavier then a Kolibri powerd plane even though the weight diffrence of the engine is only 3.7oz. More weight behind CG and the larger engine will be mounted even further back.
As Jetsmunt M35 are only rumored still so we really don't know. I find 35N beeing a perfect power level for this kind of planes as long as the weight still are resonable. At Jetpower rumours talked about going brushless fuelpump and starter with the small Merlin engine, sounds good if the weight is keept down. I really hope it will turn out a bit lighter then the P20 and with the rumored 35N too.

OK, feel free to email me at [email protected] for quicker replies.
OK, we had another order from Spain last week, but CC didn't work and no contact!

What length are your 40mm pipes? Our P-20 pipe is 48mm, maybe a little big for perfect with the P-20, but I thought ideal for the 35N. I have a friend in England with a 35N Lambert, maybe we will see.

I asked the Question about the Merlin 35, it seems Jets Munt are still ironing out small electronic problem with the engine so it may be a while longer before we see them
