Final stages just requiring front end install, the quality on this kit was probably a little better than my own kit. Amazing for the price.

What`s the sound level like on the habu/P-20 compared to all the larger turbines ?
Does it seem to make less noise than larger turbines once in the air ?
Will the dual wall pipe sound quieter than the single wall pipe ?
Im in a sound sensitive club, and it would be nice if I could fly localy, instaed of traveling far away every time I want to fly the big ones....

Very quite as there is no "roar" like a big turbine, also the pitch is very high, so does not carry. We did a test in the local club and going 400m away and flying the Habu around showed you cannot hear it!
The different tail pipe designs do sound different, but noise level is very similar.

Earlier today I finished Simon's Habu. This is the first with our 24oz tank + MAP 2oz set up. Personally I'm very happy with 6.5min on the std 20 + 2oz set up,but with Simon's formation flying partner going 26oz, I thought they better be the same! ECU pack is 1600mAh Li-Po as mine (in nose pocket) and a 2200 2s Li-Po Rx (50+ flights!) to help the balance. This is slid into the nose on two 10mm square rails, so that the pack can be slid out easily for charging.
Thumbs up from my youngest

Been to the office and test run Simon's P-20. Perfect first start and run. Weight with MAP full and 1/2" in the main tank, 60grams nose weight is 3140 grams.
I noticed that the tail end of each Habu fuselage is slightly different in shape.
Battery installation method.

Mine is now all but finished, just balanced it and had to add 3 oz of nose weight (but I have used smaller batteries, 2S 1000maH for Rx and 2S 1200mah for ECU), just have to do a final control set up and test run the engine (and finish the canopy/cockpit).

About time! There should be a few more of our conversions being finished about now, I know of two others that should be ready for testing this week.

Are you flying your E-Turbinator anymore? I have flown mine three times. It is a pretty stable plane but it is so clean it's hard to slow down for landing. I know you used crow on yours. A friend suggested using flaperons. I am wondering which would be more effective?
Thanks.

It wasn't mine, I built it for a friend and when I passed it over to him he flew it through a 35% Extra[]
It slowed up fine for our 90m patch with just the ailerons raised 6mm and 1mm down mixed in. Also the inlets were full of MAP airtrap and cables creating lots of drag.

Hi, I have a Lambert T20 giving 4.4 pounds of thrust, would this be enough power for the 32 flying off a 90 meter grass strip?
How does this compare to the thrust from the standard electric set up?
Thanks Chris

After feeling a bit lacklustre over the whole Habu 32 thing, seeing Ali and Dave waxing lyrical about them I decided to put mine together this week. Dindt take very long at all and maidened her yesterday and had 4 flights. It was much better than I remember, having flown one a couple of months back. It really is a good P20 model, easy to fly, seems fairly strong, rotates nicely and lands beautifully (with about 80 degrees of flap). Tamjets gear working really well on our grass patch. A bit dead on the elevator but nothing that stops the enjoyment - just takes a bit more hauling on the flare and coming out of downward manouevers.
I decided to cut a hatch in the nose for the batteries - put a 2500mah ECu pack and 2200 mah rx pack in there and it balanced spot on with no additional weight.
Liked it so much I decided to bling it up a bit!

Like the stickers colin! where did you get those from? Still have not flown mine yet but have now taken the opportunity to adjust the install a bit. Should be a few Habu P20's at Merryfield if all goes well.

Another day at PMFC with three Habu 32T models, a first for one club I guess.
Simon Miller had a complete flight on his new 32T...looks happy with it.
Some flying shots of Colin G's

Confirmation today that a third Habu 32 has been test flown with our 24oz+2 conversion, we will now offer that option for those who want a slightly longer flight time. My two test flights with Simon's model this morning showed the tank worked just as well as the 20oz+2 set up, it's just a little more nose heavy when the tank is full. On Simon's I allowed for this and set the balance so that at the lowest fuel level expected the balance was on the rear most figure...Simon's flight and landing showed this to be perfectly safe.

Bit of film and paint and you can have any colour you like! You can also do the "Dave" mods easier...
