Wow what a shame it ended the way it did, hopefully the pilot and co-pilot got out OK, looked as though they might - strong jet - a classic.

Thanks for sharing.

Yes, it was a shame. The bent landing gear, broken wing, and holes in the skin looked all too familiar - I've had a few takeoffs and landings, the result of which looked like that!

Such a shame. But yet something I want to do eventually (restore an old mig and fly it) if this economy ever picks back up.

Wow, not sure what that pilot was thinking...
He also rotated to a very high angle on the first test flight.... looked scary.
Either he has no experience with 50's jets, or the air speed indicated is miscalibrated and he has not seat of the pants feel... or he has the wrong V speeds.... totaly rotated at too slow a speed.....
Tailstrike on takeoff on a Mig 15 equals BAD!

I would venture to offer that it was not pilot error. There is entirely a possiblity the pitch trim waa backwards. The airplane is nosing up unexpectedly, so he feeds in down trim to no help. There obviously no real prep for a first test flight. You don't load a pax in the back on a brand new test flight. So likewise I'll bet it was a very incomplete post maintenance preflight.
