My Feedback: (11)
Ok ... the wet blanket....
Does anyone else see a problem with this type of jet build where the new plane flies in front of a crowd having never been flown before? In the states, we have an AMA rule (which if followed) would prevent this brand new un-proven model from flying at an event.
Am I the only one that thought about this? It was a way cool build...

Well, they lit the propane to start the turbine with a cigarette lighter, so clearly they do things differently then we do...
I thought the first flight was done late in the evening before a smaller group of people. The AMA rules just say you can't do it at a sanctioned event, there's no explicit limit (that I know of) on how many people actually witness the first flight.

In Denmark we have a set of rules that needs to be followed before a jet takes of for the first time.
These rules were followed and the checklist completed (we have a number of persons who are allowed to do the checking and signing off), and the plane was in perfect condition for the first flight.
Don't over-dramatize this, it is a foam plane weighing 23 Kg (48 lbs or so), with a massive wing. The speed were around 50..60 km/h (around 35..40 mph) during the flight, and there was a good distance to the spectators.
Different countries have different rules, and yes, we are also allowed to go faster than 200 mph here

Now, finally, a video fom the building process, with the correct aspect ratio and without video drop outs, are uploaded:

Beautiful aircraft, it is almost like a slow flier. Some extra weight and two extra turbines would make things more fun but is great as is it already.. Congrats for all the team!
Kind of reminds me Eddie Week´s foam DC10 of some years back..

Had the pleassure flying the "foamy monster plane" yesterday. It feels like a BIG indoor plane, and uses a lot of rudder in the turns.
Feels so light in the air, in the beginning you automatically add some power because you are afraid that it will fall out of the sky
During one of the flights by Keld (Keld and Kasper was the two "brains" behind the project), the engine flamed out, and he managed to drag it "almost home", and landed it softly, only a few meters short of the field. 1 meter shorter, and the ECU would have been "a little" wet (the ECU etc is located in the "APU" opening of the plane)
No harm was done to the plane at all, we just removed some grass from the trailing link gear, and it was ready for fight once more
It has now had at least 10 flights, and still holding up very well!

The video has now had more than 1 million hits, a first for a modelplane video in Denmark for sure
The foamy monster flew again this past weekend at a meeting, celebrating the 1 million hits with a sticker
It still refuses to die, so maybe it will fly again soon
