Airframes for Wren SS??
#1
Thread Starter

I received a well used Tam A-4 in a trade with a Wren SS (18lbs of thrust). I am considering pulling the Wren out and using it in another airframe. Any suggestions? I'm not too familiar with the planes in this turbine class range. TIA!

If u like something scale and different - that will work with this size turbine:

I have seen a couple of these in the flesh and flown one of them on a Kingtech K80. Nice looking and flying plane and they scale out nice.
I should check with my buddy and see if his is for sale.....

There are lots of applications for this turbine. It's an excellent match in a Falcon 120 or Tornado. I've had Wren SS's in my Falcon 120 and FEJ 1/8 F-16. A couple of buddies have SS's in their PST Panther, JL T-45, JL C-114, FB L-39, Tamjet F-16, and Ziroli Turbinator.

I had mine in a BVM Bobcat and it flew it well, although I've now changed it for a Merlin for a bit more speed. One thing when choosing an airframe for it though, make sure it puts out the 18lb it's meant to. Mine was pushing less than 16.5 until it went back to be played with.

I have been flying mine now for 5 years on a P-70 and it does 194 mph straight and level all day. Thats less thrust than the SS. Any more would be Illegal.
