You know i remember when i first got in this hobby my instructor told me if you cant afford to buy good equipment that is proven and safe then you have chosen the wrong hobby , so many times we chose a cheap product and when it fails we get mad , well if you can't afford to buy the good proven parts and equipment that is your choice and you will pay the price of a plane or other damage , the choice is yours , but as for me i shall purchase tested and proven products , confidence has no price you either afford it or you buy garbage !!!!!!!!!

Is Kyosho American? Are OS Engines American? Is Futaba American? We live in a WORLD not just one country. And hopefully we are trying to make a better world, not just a better country. Most of us (maybe not the seemingly elite group of jet fliers) live on budgets. I have built and/or assembled many different planes over the years and buget has always been one of my primary concerns. The most expensive engine I used was a Saito 50 4-stroke. And it broke just as bad as the used Fox 40 I had when it hit the pavement. When I crashed that and the Ace CloudDancer it was in I got back into flying in less than a month with a $50 Uproar and a $50 Tower 40 engine. Flying was a lot more important to me than showing all my "friends" that I could spend $5000 on an airplane someone else built for me. Several Tower 40s, one OS 30, an MDS 62 (cheap Russian made) and the Saito. And the Tacon electric 60-sze motor I now have was made in China. So if you want to put a Webra on a Top Flite kit I'll fly alongside with a Tower Uproar with a Tower 40. And you can worry about destroying your "investment"" while I just have fun with my toy.</p>

Well I'm not American but here comes an American demanding everyone else be American too. I have many US friends but a statement like "buy american BE american" is why you guys are getting such a terrible rep around the world. I totally agree that some chinese groups are devaluing products, but I can't believe people come on here and make statements like that when 80 percent of your daily duties/lives/homes/cars/facilites are built with the "Made In China" stamp.
Too little too late buddy.

Don't apologize for being American. Be proud of it. Just don't try to make everyone else on the planet American. Please try? I know it's difficult. Anyhow back to jets.

The good Ole US of A is still the best country in the world. We don't need to apologize to our commie neighbors to the north, or to any country for that matter.
As many problems as we have with our international policy, our domestic policy is still the best in the WORLD.
And, back to the topic, I hate, hate, HATE(!!!!) gear problems. I won't go cheap in this department. I can still afford (thank goodness) BVM's good stuff for pneumatics and I'll continue to use BVM gear in any jet I can.

Wow, this thread is spinning out of control, I think all the OP wanted to do is show a alternative retracts that may or may not be suitable for a given application, it too bad everything has to turn political[:'(]

as far as the gear goes . i have seen a lot of "overseas" stuff just plain fall apart or bend way to easy. i have been a robart fan for years. mostly because i can call with questions or to order parts etc. you can't beat a real person to talk to. i have a boomer intro and have spring airs that have been flawless. i chose that plane because we have no paved strips here and the wire gear take a lot of abuse as where the scale birds don't fair so well.

Hi I am new to tubines and live in pittsburgh. When is the Titusville event. I have been doing duct fan stuff but want tomove on up to turbine flying. I recently purchased a version 2 foremost 150. I think it should be called the forskin minus 150 as that is what cost from nitro models. It is going to need major work before I shove a turbine in it. Might just shove a fan in and not care.
