Default Stomped on hinging

HELP !!!!!!

Hello guys,

Well, I am in the process of building my first jet. A Pirotti "Tuono".

All the hinging is top hinged and done as the kit comes from the manufacture. But the rudder has to be hinged.

I am stomped as to how to cut and install this type of hinging. The rudder has a long pin pre-built into the rudder and I have to cut into the rudder for the offset hinges. Here is my problem. Do I install the hinges at a 90 degree angle to the pin hinging as in photo #1, or on an angle that is the same as the top and bottom of the rudder as in photo #2 ?

Thanks.

The hinges *must* be 90 degrees to the hinge line between the rudder and vertical stabilizer or they will bind.

Bob's correct, must be 90 deg to the hinge line.

It's surprising to see that method of hinging on an ARF, it's usually
a method the scale guys go to a lot of trouble to achieve - cool! [8D]

I take it the pin slides out to mount the rudder?

John.

Thanks guys, 90 degrees it is. Will install tomorrow. It just had me thinking and did not want to be wrong. Better safe than sorry.

Yes, there is a long pin to remove the rudder surface.
