Default gyros with digital servos?

I think I have heard that you should not use digital servos with gyros., Is this true?

not true, but the gyros cant take 6 volts so a reg is used to step it down to 5 volts and the servo it controls as well...ask any heli pilot, there are split regulators used for HV servos now

Untrue most gyros require one due to speed requirements. You can burn up a analog servo with a gyro in ds mode.

The JR G370A gyro is designed to work with voltages from 4.8 to 6.6 and specifically for use with digital servos.

The 6.0v thing comes not from the gyro capability, its the servo supply on helis where the tail servo never stops moving and overheats on 6v+. A 4 cell Ni pack is just under 6v in operation, but a 5 cell (6v) pack is NOT 6v its 7volts ish and the servos overheat.
Some gyros have both modes, but Digital servos are perfect for gyro use.

I have used gyros both with analogue and digital servos.

If you look at the attached manual for ACT Fuzzy pro that it handles 3-9v.

As Dave says the governing factor is the requirements of the servo.

Some have a dip switch or interface setting for digital servo mode (some even use even faster 720us center pulse versus standard 1520us center pulse servos).

If you're using a modern gyro that can be set, you need to make sure that its set correctly for the servo you're using.

But as they say on Mythbusters, that gyros can't use digital servos is a myth thats BUSTED

Hi All,

a practical question- what gyro would you suggest on Rookie's thurst vector unit? I'm currently thinking 2x Futaba GYA351 or 1 GYA352..

All the best,
Ivar

Ivar

My Eurosport used 2 x JR 770T, but any 2 axis gyro from Futaba or ACT could be used.

This is new also
