Default Fly Eagle 1/7 F-15E Build thread

I got the notice today my F-15 shipped and normal time is around 4-5 days so it should be here by Monday. I wasn't going to do any more build threads but since I received LOTS of pms from people it helped and I enjoy building I figured why not. I have an F-14 that will be right behind it so more than likely I will be building both at the same time.
These two build will be longer than my last since it will take time to outfit these two large models and I may have to stop the builds down the road for a while. That all depends on the Army and its cut backs [:@] thanks Obama argg anyway so don’t expect a turtle race, plus I may head to Afghanistan for a year so we’ll see. I orig wanted to get the F-14 done for Kentucky jets but due to unexpected things and now possible boot from the Army I am being smart about things just in case.

So let me start off by inviting anyone who has experience with either of these two models to post any info or lessons learned to help myself and anyone else who comes along.
Also remember this is for fun and to help new builders with these models. I will post first the first video the day it arrives just like last time giving you the run down from the get go.

I have special color schemes for these two jets which I will give more detail on later, the f-15 was in Mr. Djs video but they had to repaint due to a mix up so I am hoping the paint turns out okay. The F-14 is taking a little longer due to the one of a kind paint scheme if it turns out like the pictures it will be a head turner for sure!

for everyone wondering my order for both went in the first week of February so I would say it’s about average build times, they held off on shipping the f-15 since I wanted electric retracts but they just having developed them yet so mine will ship with all air and I will convert the gear to electric later once they design a set. That added a couple weeks of delay but average time seems to be 3-4 months.

Last thing I wanted to say is I will not get pulled into product bashing or any hear say, if you don’t have facts to support your issue then it’s just opinion. Don’t get me wrong I like opinions and feedback, it makes for great discussion and people learn from it. I don’t mind such things, I actually encourage it just be respectful.

Most important enjoy the build and feel free to ask questions

cool deal well you have my f-16 build thread for yours, cool mine the twin version. I was looking at the hydraulic stuff myself in place of the electric since the F-15 has so many gear doors. What color schemes did you go with on your models?

I like the electric but the cost is a lot more than hydraulic, but electric is less weight than both the hydraulic and air. Plus electric really can get heavy if you do a full conversion with lots of doors. I think the F-16 is perfect for all electric due to the low number of doors and features. The F-15 with the complex doors and how they close/ speed brake air and electric or hydraulic will suite best. I just hate air for gear systems no room for error.

Man that first video was great, that hard almost 3D plane style pull up is a testimate to the strength. I really like how he had the center tank and ordinance on there!!!!!! It looks like a great stable jet, nice slow landings as well.
So Raul Ronazo if your out there hit me up I would like to pic your brain!

I am keenly looking at the FEJ 1/5.5 Hawk. Do any of you guys who fly the FEJ stuff have any pics of experience with the Hawk? I have a Kingtech 1400 looking for a new home, and think a Hawk would be a nice change of pace.

Well I got half of the F-15 today since they shipped via two carries a so the rest should be here tomorrow or Friday. The bad thing is it was damaged in the shipping [:'(] so well see its not major but still its damaged. I could tell from the box it had been crushed, so on one side next to the right rudder behind the turbine bay the is a 8 in crack, and a two cracks around the leading edge where that same rudder mounts. I got a video of the box opening and will give it a good look over for any other damage. Just an update

A few Pics to get started I will get more stuff once everything is here. Looking over the jet and the paint is pretty good, they do really great job with gloss finish but flat colors seems to be harder to get right.
Everything on the inside is nice and clean plenty of room to play around with inside. The damage from shipping is going to require a something glued inside like a piece of thin carbon, the I will stuff the inside or pump up something inside to hold the skin in its orig shape while it sets.

Okay something is up [:@] pics are not upload because RCU is acting up

I built and flying pattern plane seen 2001 so put more weigh on the air frame is my enemy[>:] even with jet I keep it very simple and KEEP IT LIGHT do not spend money on some thing it will make it look good but it add weigh on your jet, I built my jet to fly it in the air not to show it on the ground[:-] so keep it simple and LIGHT you will enjoy it more when you go and spend all day at flying field

Sorry man I was really excited but you know it is sometimes motivation can be a problem, I may continue the build at a later date it just depends. However if I do and RCU continues to have these problems I deff will not, I hope they fix it. I cannot upload pics if I wanted to, so I aplogize to the fans.

Nice Jet Keith, looks just like Lewis Patton's (The General) Fei Bao version.

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_82..._1/key_/tm.htm

Didn't think the Anniversary edition paint scheme jets carried ordnance. Pretty sure they were just "show" planes with no live rounds, no?

Enjoy the build and good luck!

You are correct they probably dont carry ordinance but there is more to the jet than meets the eye
