Saturday, the weather was much better than forecast. The wind was virtually calm and no rain. Even the sun shone. Not the best turnout,so loads of relaxing flying for those that wanted it. Looking forward to today. Blue skies at the moment and forecast good for a change.

Just a quick thank you to all those at Long Marston. I have yet to meet a nicer more helpful bunch of people. The weather was really good, and the flying quite entertaining. Whoever was doing the massive rolling loop, well done that man, that was frigging awesome !!! Now I just have to get my b cert and join the JMA ie. basically get organised.
You guys should have a good day today, in fact the biggest problem may be sunburn ! (lets hope so!).

A great weekend for the JMA. The ground work done by out going Treasurer Geoff, then Roger and Dick with the Airfield owners set up a great weekend of jet flying. You never know what weather you will get at LM, but the weekend turned out just fine with light showers Saturday AM, followed by non stop flying all day Sunday.
I got to test fly Barry Coopers Elan/P-120Sx/DSX-12 combo and after single flight of trimming stand with him while he had his first flight. I also got to re-maiden David Ruskin's CARF Hawk after Phil "invisibly" mended it. Model fly's great still, but it needs some balance adjustments and a flap servo issue sorting before its 100% again.
Me and Little Stevie did our first (and only) practice for the Formation Cup, managing 7 flights with our two DerJet Cougar's over the 2 days. I had a flight with the Ultra Flash and Hawk before letting Little Stevie abuse my UF. Saturday we had three Venom EDF's in loose formation, plus four EFlite UMX MiG 15's. Only one loss all weekend when fast Phil's Reaction went burrowing...shovel was needed! He did manage to get his Ultra Flash maidened, so ended the weekend on a high.
Banter was great, Tancock was photographed by girl friend Claire posing in a questionable way.

Just got back from an excellent weekend at Long Marston. Special thanks to Dick Spreadbury for getting me airborne with the kind loan of his transmitter. Loads of flying and the weather much better than anticipated. Impressive flying by Dave W and Steve, with their Cougar pairing, not easy to do. Jason, as usual had the throttle pinned on his Bandit, Shame Steve Elias didn't fly his Ultra Bandit today, a hangover is a poor excuse!!

RE: JMA Long Marston Jet Meet July 14th-15th
Just got in from Long Marston and am tired but very pleased after the weekend.
Just a few word of thanks to everyone involved in making the weekend a success such as the Roger Kilby and of course Dick, who kept us all fed and watered with his legendary bacon butties and rock cakes.
Many highlights over the weekend but here are just a few - Good to see Dave Gladwin getting back into the groove with his Hawk, Dave and Steve practising formation and after a bit of practice they were really getting it together. Good to see new jet flyer Alex Hawtin enjoying his new AD Scorpion. Tancock managing to finally land his Hotspot in the same county. Jamie beginning to enjoy his classic bandit. Paul Leighton(aka animal) enjoying his Hawk. Steve E flying his Ultra Bandit as immaculately as ever and finally John Palmer enjoying the T45.
Who can forget the Mig fest? I think we only manged to wreck one model and that wasn't a MIG!
Interesting weekend for me as I maidened two models succesfully. The first was an P100rx 1/8 scale F16 for Rob Bennet and the second large was large L39 with a Wren 160 owned by Ian George.
Final thanks must go to the legend Jet Rebel, aka, Ginge, aka Jason Fletcher because as well as being a good round all egg who happens to fly vey well, he also makes a great mechanic when he fixes his mates plane when the owner has a blond moment
Geoff.

Just got back from LM and got collared to cut grass and rain returning tomorrow. We can now see out of the windows
Big thank you to Jamie for his help again today. Hope to findlly get the F15 retracts sorted. A few suggestions to try.
Miss usual big thank you to Dick for the food laid on at very reasonable rates and also for the Anadin which cured my headache and allowed my flying to continue
Ace event. Thanks Roger & Geoff.

A really great weekend with excellent company although Tancock was there!! the weather worked well for us despite the damp start and the social gathering in the evening was definitely one of the best. The Jetrebel was back with a vengeance giving it double death!! I have not seem Mick B's DH110 fly for a while and it really is a majestic beast! One pilot worthy of mention is Alex Hawtin, he is new to jets from the 'Gangsta' world of 3D and he adapted very well and quickly . . . most impressed!
I got to fly Ian Budgen's F15 which had plenty of 'push' with a Kingtech 140 in it . . . . . . huge loops!! but the retracts gave persistent trouble which cut short the last flight. Dick Spreadbury did a fantastic job with the catering 'Sammy's Sizzler' turned into Dick's Diner!
The MIG Combat in the mornings was a definite highlight! i was taken from behind by an E-flite Mig being flown by who? and Geoff could not be bothered to fly around Jetrebels caravan and decided to fly through it . . . . Caravan 1-MIG 0.
Have not long got back and unpacked . . . . . next weekend Elvington!!

What a great meeting! Great to catch up with a few old friends and great to see some new people entering this side of the hobby too. I managed to get in a good few flights but the one that got me going was the Bandit - Ultra Flash duel, I like to give it death and it was even more enjoyable when Mr sensible gave it death too [8D]
The keenest man in Jets (jamie Cuff) did countless perfect landings with his Classic Bandit this weekend and has convinced me that I need to take the 170 out my Classic and put a 100 in.. I must be getting old..
Oh and the Mig fest was an epic adventure

Looks like you all had a blast! I take it from the photos that the weather played ball for you both days?
Wished I could have joined you but unable to drive at moment.
Thanks for posting the pics!

Yet another blinding weekend!
Another great event, well organised and relaxed!
Thanks must go to Roger, Geoff and anyone I missed who make these meetings happen!
Not forgetting Dick who kept everybody fed and watered (would have still liked to have seen the Mirage fly though)!
Impressed with Jamie's Bandit/P100 combo. Fletcher seems to be cracking with age (Pure Speed 2 being down graded)!
Alex getting to grips with his Scorpion along with his Dad, a top class flight Engineer!
Got to say what a laugh Saturday night was!
Can not wait until the next instalment!

The Welsh airforce have just arrived home
Many thanks to all involved in the organising of this event, we had a great weekend, special thanks to Dick for the bacon butties/burgers etc - much appreciated.
So to the flying we personally managed to burn about 35 litres of fuel, haven't done that for a long while, enjoyed the Mig-Fest and the dueling Bobcats (Jason and Jamie).
Once again thanks to all for a memorable weekend - and the weather played ball too!!!!!!!!!

Don't know how you do it Nick and Derek, I think you two are the keenest jet flyers in the UK. I stopped off for a evening meal with Jamie and Steve and I still manged to get home about an hour and a half before you guys.

Far too quick with the uploads Jamie! I was going to use some of the same ones.................but here are a few different photos.

RE: JMA Long Marston Jet Meet July 14th-15th
What a stunning weekend...will go down in the memory banks as good as those we used to have waaaay back in the days of the Paris Jet Show, early Helchterens and Top Guns! Great to see lots of mates there from those days too...Paul Gray (being unusually conservative on his alcohol consumption), Paul Leighton (Animal), who is a good friend as well as being a brilliant pilot, John Palmer, who's bloody brilliant at magic tricks and kept us entertained in the pub, and Steve Elias, whose charisma and charm almost worked with the tattooed barmaid (did you notice her btw Jase?!).
Prize for variety of models in one car has got to go to Dizz (why are they all Navy aircraft tho! ) - that Attacker is horny mate, as IB would say, 'promotes trouser activity', or as Jamie would say, 'where's my special sock'! I did get out from time to time to see some of the flying and, as has already been mentioned, there were several class acts performing, not least of which was Mick Burrell with his Big T-33 - such a perfect jet and well aerobatted - and John Sanders very smoothly demoing his Hawk and L-39. Good to see Ian George back on the scene and also David Gladwin relaxing with his Hawk...Weatronics equipped.
Thanks for all the comments re the catering...Sam's on the mend after being casevaced out yesterday lunchtime...big, big thanks to sister Janet for coming to help out and saving my ass!
Long Marston's a good site and the JMA membership decision to stump up the dosh to do this weekender was spot on - be good to do it again next year (twice maybe?), perhaps spending a bit more dosh to have a marquee for model storage/night watchperson. However, going back to this weekend, it don't get much better!
Cheers,
Dick
PS...a couple of items of jet equipment were given to me for safe custody pending claim...so if you're missing some kit, pm me the description and we'll see if we can arrange a reunion!

May I add my sincere thanks to all, (the JMA committee, Geoff, Roger Jamie and Dick ) plus Jason for facilitating a wonderful weekend. Great company, all very relaxed and most enjoyable flying. Special thanks to Dick for his excellent food all weekend and the New Inn was perfect for our needs. Managed to burn all my fuel in the Hawk on its first outing in the northern hemisphere, hopefully first of many.
Thanks again to EVERYONE, I had a ball, model jet flying at its most enjoyable.
Regards,
David.
