Default Large SM Hawk Pipe and 180RX

Anyone flying this combination?

Hoping that the tailipe is fine. I do plan to limit the 180 to around 34-36# but thought Id see if the pipe is hanging in there for 160+ turbines.

thanks
DD

BVM has recently developed a larger tailpipe for the "160" bypass in the large SM Hawk. Good idea for you 180RX guys.

Thanks Dustin
So will the new tailpipe fit the current bypass that comes with the large Hawk (bypass ending at tailcone with bell mouth)?

I just fit my bypass and turbine...have not mounted the tailpipe yet.

Thanks

dave, check pm...

here is more info for the other guys pm'ing me:

uses the standard large aluminum bell mouth, the one that is the rear of the bypass. We made the exit hole larger. you will have to modify the exit bulkhead for the larger diameter. easy...

Our metal is stronger too....

before everyone freaks out, I know it's RCU...

There is no drama in why we developed this pipe as a replacement. A couple customers have experienced hot starts or engine issues resulting in damaged pipes. They requested BVM to make a pipe to get them flying ASAP, so we did. While we were at it we improved it for larger engines, since this is the trend. The hawk does not need a 180 class engine and I do not recommend using all that power. As the original poster stated, he will use reduced power, that is perfect.

Thanks Dustin.

I also am not trying to make everyone nervous. I am just at a point of installing the tailpipe and would rather do it once.
The 180 will be dialed down. It was bought for the option of this plane and perhaps another slightly larger version...plus I wanted to try an RX.
