Default Hansen super trapp question

Hey all, got an HST for my current jet on the bench and this jet used to be set up for a UAT. The problem i see is the UAT uses a larger size tygon because it has barbed nipple fittings and the HST uses a festo connection. Has anybody had this and how did you do it? Just use a festo step down fitting? Or did you convert the HST to a nipple style setup? Also, the HST uses a metal clunk and not a bag, does this arrangement work well? I have always used the UAT and have no prior knowledge of the HST. The tank will be setup in an almost vertical arrangement due to space. Thanks in advance!

Are you sure it's a Hanson air trap? All the ones I have seen have bags the same a UAT.

Dont think thats a Hanson, My Hanson traps have barbed fittings and a bag...
yours might be a MAP bubble trap.

All Hanson including the HST is bagged.. Not sure witch one this is but i would go with the traditional BVM or Hanson Bag style.

Yeah, thats not a Hanson Nick, Hanson has barbed fittings and bag, just like BVM UAT. That looks like a home made UAT.

It looks like a well made air-trap. You could use the festo male barb or female push lock 6mm to 4mm adapter. And tygon will work over the male barb of the adapter. Use safety wire. Just DO NOT use tygon into the female 6mm adapter. The tygon is too soft and will deform over time and cause a leak.

I read on some older posts that the original HST had the festos and Hansen offered to retrofit that style for nipple fittings to accompany the fellas with larger turbines because they were worried about vacuuming of the larger engines...Is it possible this is a HST but the older style?

Nick. Have you looked at the new Cats that Todd is carrying now? I bought two of these and am well pleased with them.

Nick,
I bought one back in April or so and have 30 flights on a k100 in an ultra flash but it does not look anything like yours.

That looks like the MAP trap. I'd get a bvm, hanson, or JMP accumulator.

Nick
Take a look at this thread, it may help clarified your questions [&:] if you need a UAT I have a spare one or at least the parts to build one ( I have to search in the storage unit ) you will need to get a 4 oz Nalgene bottle.

Get a composite air trap CAT and end your worries, its the best out there, better than bvm, han, jmp (Yes I have had the JMP and it can leak) where as the CAT are bullet proof.

How can the JMP leak? It can't leak anymore than any of them out there. Unless you were to take it apart and wreck the seal yourself I don't know how that one could ever leak.

Would somebody please define the following acronyms so us jet-newbies can follow along please?

UAT
CAT
HST
JMP
MAP
HAN
ABC
BVM - Bob Violett Models
RCU - RC Universe

That would help a lot IMHO. Thanks.

Hi, the CAT is a product I make so will add the acronym

COMPOSITE AIR TRAP

It is designed to aid removal of air from fuel flow to the pump/turbine, it has also been fully tested and subsequently used by Boeing and NASA in experimental aircraft like the X-48 (B & C) for this specific job.

Picture attached of the range, and hope this helps.

Thanks Marc. That information is a big help. What type of air trap do Kingtech turbine users commonly use? Does Kingtech supply an air trap device with their turbines?

If I'm going off topic let me know and I'll stay off the thread.

I am not aware of any manufacturer supplying an 'air trap' device with a turbine, the user has the choice to select his preferred product.
