Right boom done and the left has been stretch out already, took longer to stretch the monokote than to assemble the boom, used servo screws on the rudder horn, longer and easier to screw down.

let's continue the work.

Dave, are there any more Xcaliburs available in the USA, GJ doesn't even have the small ones on their webpage, I really want to get one for my P60, I know I have this one and will fly the crap out of it before I give it back to my friend like you did with the factory demo one, and like you, I want my own now.

Right wing is done! On this wing the ailerons was off at the tip by about 1/8" the hinge's hole was drilled too low, I didnt find out till the moment I pushed the ailerons into the hinges to get glued, I had to quickly pull the aileron out and the hinge then drill the hole again then push the hinge back in and the ailerons back into the wing, all this while the 30 min epoxy was drying in my hot garage, at the end the aileron came out hinged nearly perfect.

So far the only small thing I had to fix was a hinge hole on a aileron ( it was off ) other than that, this jet kit is the simplest and easiest jet kit I ever build, hands down.

I'll wait for the kits, mine will be a project for next year, I've been looking for a simple yet awesome looking with awesome performance, simple to carry, maintain and been able to have a relax day with it at the field, well, I found it, my P60 will wait for the Xcalibur.

Thanks Dave.

Ok, lots of things done in the past 10 hrs, L gear, engine is mounted, engine tray, fuel tank, on/off switches, UAT, pump.

Left to do, aileron extensions, brake servo and valve, retract valve ( jetronics ) air gages ( dont have those ) and receiver.

You will need nose weight with so much of the heavy stuff on the tank.

The install is done, was runing out of room, few things left to do, 4 extensions to add to the fuse, air gages ( I don't have those ) the airlines are there for them already and I the batteries.

After that CG comes next and programing of the radio ( dont have it with me ) then the testing begans and double check everything.

P-60 is really a 2s (8.4v charged) Li-Po battery turbine, the v6 ECU does not cope well with higher voltages.

Only 4 things left to do as far as building goes, air gauges ( don't have them ) mount the vent port ( don't have one ) mount receiver and mount the batts then CG and program it

Carlos

Why air gauges? We fill the air tanks with a pump fitted with a gauge, start the turbine and put the top on...no one on board can see the gauges. When you land if the gear came down and the brakes worked you had enough air...
Each air gauge is 3-4 more joints to leak-I have never got the need to add weight and failure points...

Dave
Great minds think alike, why not have the gauge on the pump, I was thinking, I'm going omit them, but will make sure the tanks hold air for at least one hour.

Thanks for the tip

Why is the factory still sending these jets out like this? Really? Interestingly, mine was fine but was concerned I’d have to deal with this. In my case the horizontal stab fit perfectly.

The H stab was fine the way it was seating on the V stabs, the advice Dave gave me was just in case the H stab was getting push out of alignment.

No airplane kit is perfect, not even the original BVM ones ( ask me how I know ) but this Xcalibur is an easy peasy

This is going out to the group. From a previous PM I had with Dave Wilshere, he said he hadn't seen a nose-heavy Xcalibur.

Well, I have one. Do I get a prize Dave? LOL

Verified it this afternoon with a string right on the 160mm CG mark per the manual. To attain a level CG, I added 130 grams in the tail. For the purposes of experimentation, I put bolts in a plastic box taped at the front-center of the horizontal stab and adjusted the weight as needed to get the desired result. The airplane has 1/4 fuel (about 250cc) on board with 4 ounces in the UAT which is mounted adjacent to the nose wheel well. I figure I can attach required weight on the bottom of each tail boom (65 gram per side) below and aft of the rudder servos. As it turns out, that's pretty much the same datum position as the box of bolts I used.

I'd like to get thoughts on this from the group before I move forward. How critical is the CG? It's going to shift forward with a fuel load but not much is my thinking. We don't want this tail heavy on landing approach.

What size-type of battery do you have in the nose? I looked at your install and there is a little extra gear, but does not look crammed. What tail servos? That makes a big difference
