Default Behotec turbines ???

Does anybody know if there's something going on at Behotec?

I first communicated with Thomas Berktold on 9th November & had a reply from Adriane, telling me I'd have a mail sent to me with payment instructions in January due to a long waiting list, OK, no problem, I understand.

I tried to send a follow-up email to Behotec a few weeks back, wishing them a happy new year etc & confirming the fact I'm still waiting, I never received a reply.

I tried to send several other emails & was replied to with another customers details & his tracking number for an engine going to the UK, I live in Thailand (?)……I replied, hey we all make mistakes, no answer……..

I tried again to send several emails but no answer…….(frustration is starting)

Today I called Behotec, was greeted by a very pleasant German lady but as soon as I asked for Thomas, the line went dead……(What !!!), I tried to call back but now nobody is picking up….

Anybody else had the same treatment?

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE.

The casting company that manufactures the Turbine wheel is 11 weeks behind on the order for Behotec.

The information was passed to me today & I'm happy to say things are delayed but being managed, the next batch of Turbine wheels should arrive within a week.

Thank you Thomas.

Hmmm...

That's the story I heard for about six weeks and when the engine was supposed to be here, the USA importer tried to find out where it was and Thomas would not respond to e-mails. So I waited as they tried to get an update for another two weeks and still no response from Behotec.

So I cancelled my backorder, got my deposit back and I have a JetCat coming. I doubt I'll ever try to get an engine from Behotec again.

Even I'm in the market for a 220 class turbine. Don't know what compare to the jb220 at the moment. I wish it was easier to get a hold of these gems.

There is another German Manufactur for very powerful Turbines. He has also a Turbine with 22 KG thrust.
I own one and installed it in my F16 1:6. It is very powerful to fly and makes a lot of fun with the AOA manuevers.

http://www.frankturbine.com/produkte...rbinen/ft-220/

And still to come is the FT-250 - a Turbine with the 180 Size and the thrust of 25 KG.

Best regards,
Karsten

Little known? True but I did tried to get a hold of them and never got an answer from them.Even tried with my weak German
....My feeling is that they don't want to deal outside Europe...

Hello Spike

FrankTurbine is a small company, do not speak anything other than German.
Send to Alfred Frank with Google Translate in German he even get back to you later in the evening or the weekend.
E-Mail: alfred @ frankturbine .de

Quick sale service and very reasonable price
You speak French? If yes I can give you the email address of a dealer FrankTurbine speaks French and German to place your order and tell you about the turbines settings.

My question regarding Behotec engines is in regards to their thrust claims. On most if not all of their engines they report thrust figures considerably higher than any other manufacturers for a similar sized engine. For instance Jet Central Rabbit, Jetcat 100, Wren100 are all the same physical size (more or less) as the Behotec 100. The three engines I mentioned all quote nearly identical max thrust (22lbs) give or take. The Behotec 100 claims 28lbs if I am recalling correctly. While I would love to have an engine that is this small physically that produces 30% more thrust than the others in its class I can't help but but a little skeptical.

The B100F is not a Behotec engine but one of a new range from an affiliated company. It has been tested by RCJI and found to give124N (approx 28.4 lbs thrust at 125,000 rpm). It is a very powerful engine for its case size.

This was raised in detail in a thread

The B100F is from BF Turbines, and as John says its a very powerful turbine in a small case delivering serious power.

Why don't you pass by our shop in Houston and have a look at it by yourself.
We also have lots of customers in Texas using the BF-100 with 100% success.
In terms of power-to-weight-to-price ratio it is also one of the best engine on the market:

There is an enormous demand for this phenomenal engine.
Behotec is giving priority to the distributors.

Thanks for reading.

The turbine looks like nice but I just can't take anyone who calls there engine "Frank Turbine" Seriously... Its like saying "Bubba's Engineering" or "Jimbo's Financial" ... or "Tony's Aerospace" FIrst names for resturants/taco stands ok... Engine manufacturers; not so much. Maybe shorten the name to FT turbines for the american market. What does Frank mean in German? Here its a name or also another way of being casual/to the point.

The guy is actually Alfred Frank. As far as I know he is a small operation, but he has specialised in the larger turbines. I recall that he had a friend at a university who help with some of the design work. He developed his own chambers with the aid of a glass outer cover that enabled him to see the combustion. He was one of the first to have internal Kero start. For what it is worth the name use of the surname is like Wright bros, de Havilland or Rolls Royce. Alfred is a very hard worker, he only speaks German and as a result has sold mainly to German speaking countries. The engines are favoured by those who want a large powerful engine for large planes. I have done repairs to 2 of his engines and they were very nicely made. If I was to buy an engine from him I would get a german speaking friend to do it for me and ring him up. He has been in business a long time and is often at the German meetings supporting his customers.
