Frank... Awesome Fl Jets... best in years. Love what you did with the field. Like everyone said, it took it to another level. You could even feel it on peoples mood.
As always, great to see friends and spend time with my kids and my dad
The highlight for me this year was the formation flight Ali and and my dad did with the 2 fougas. hope there is some video or at least some photos. Ali, you are a master at leading formations, I cant believe you can keep an eye on both planes all the time... It was awesome!
I only have these 3 pictures
1) The real Fouga (sorry Ali haha)
2) Proud papa with his best craftmanship award winner plane
3) My 2 monsters with the cougar

Looking forward to Top Gun and Fl Jets 2015

There was definitely something up with one of the elevators. In that turn around maneuver around 2 min the aircraft snaps pretty hard and recovers. When it does pitch up at 3:30 it tumbles not just pitches. During the takeoff, it might have hit one of the elevators on the ground and knocked something loose or stripped a servo gear.
Real bummer for the pilot on what looked like a pretty nice F 18.

Just think what would have happened had he been doing low level, high speed passes over the runway, as more then 50% of the guys were doing on Wednesday, when it let loose? Could have ended up in the crowd killing someone? I fly an F-18, and I don't see how the stabilators could hit the ground on take off. Only way is with extensive travel and full up, and then I think the leading edge tips would dig in or tear it off at that point. He should have landed after the first snap and loss of control...........IMHO.

I am sorry for the pilot's loss.

The F18 is a skymaster. I was flying it and I have watched the video 50 times and keep going back and forth re what happened. As somebody said, I should have landed after the extreme take off. Never happened before but after the take off everything felt fine. A couple of low passes and I didn't feel anyting. I had the plane leveled after the sudeen pitch up at 3:35 and lost it again. Thanks for all your interest and comments. The positive thing is all the components in the plane are ok, especially the engine. Haven't decided next steps yet. Seriously considering replacing it. Nice flying plane with the known F18 traits.

Tony!! Thank you for manning up! I truly hate to see anyone loose a plane/jet and the money and time involved. The take off was an extreme F-18 take off, but nothing too extreme in my opinion. It was after the EXTREME snap, that you should have, the best you could, set the jet up for landing, instead of going around a couple times at moderate to high speeds. I am glad to hear that your components are ok for the next one!! That's the positive attitude!! Don't let it get you down! Dan

Hi Dan. I didn't fly after the extreme snap. I leveled the plane and intended to fly it around and land but I wasn't able to. In retrspect, and it is always easier after the fact, I should have landed on the first pass after the takeoff but the plane flet ok. While the F18 does tend to shoot up of the ground, i never experienced a 90 degree rollout. Sad thing is I flew my shockwave all weekend (earlier Mario video) and this was the "last" flight of the weekend.

Truly sorry Tony for the loss. IMHO, and another guy, it looked as though you stayed in the air an extra amount of time and laps, with out calling an emergency for landing priority. And, yes, it is always easier after the fact to judge.

@ 02:27 was that a snap? Or did you bail out of a split s ? I don't think the leap off the ground take off could cause any elevator problem...these f18E or f was plague with take off problems
