I got a different version when I got there. I was told they were working on the engine and forgot to screw in the pipe when done. This resulting in servos cables being burn while in the air resulting in a crash.

I have been attending Florida jets as an envious spectator since 2003 but didn't fly a jet there until 2013-14. What a spectacular event. I would like to give my thanks to Frank Tiano for his hard work and great results getting the field done and organizing the event. We had a great time once again.

I contacted Don Rickles so he could take notes from Franks banquet performance.

Steve, that Phantom was amazing and it was a pleasure meeting you!

(we spoke about the Blue Angels F-4's on the flight line Friday)

As I stated earlier, in retrospect, I should have landed after that extreme takeoff. I missed it the message. As they say, it is what it is and we all learn another RC lessson which never stops no matter how long we do this. It will be back.

Diitto on the thanks to Mario for all his hard work and videos (except mine)

From what I have read on here, please understand that I did not see all of these incidences or accidents, but personally did see some of them while I was there, the cost and statistics to those pilots who attended.........for the benefit of others. I do not know the owners, or the circumstances, and there maybe more then listed here. Some of these are mid airs, some are landing incursions on the runway, some where dumb thumbs, some where mechanical, some where aggressive flying. Some where total, some where major or minor damage.

1- Saber, 1-F14, an Ultra Bandit and Viper midair, 1-F-16, a Runway incursion of an F-16 and T-38, I think, but not positive, and Ultra-Tun and think it was a midair too, 1-Buckeye landing incidence, 1-F-18, due to loss of control, cause undetermined, and a Avanti XXL.

Like I say, there maybe more, and I am sure there are too.

Yikes! When you say it like that it sounds pretty bad

But we all know (or should know) that when you are flying in a swarm, like you ALWAYS will be at the big meets, mid-airs and other nasty things are a possibility. A pilot really needs to be on his toes in this environment and even then there's no guarantee you'll take home what you brought. Pretty scary considering what we invest in these little marvels.

I see things more different then others, but I see this as more then a $100K loss, hard work, blood, sweat and tears on the true builds of the pilots, owners, and co-owners of some of these jets,.........................., for the profit of a few.

Did they fly the F-105 thunderchief in the thunderbird scheme? Any other photos?

I was there for the 3 great flying days and there were jets taking off and landing, it seemed like every second - it was unbelievably exciting to say the least. I don't know how many total flights there were but if you look at the number of incidents (and I had one) over the number of total flights, it's actually a very good overall performance and I say that realizing that those who had incidents may not agree and I feel bad for us.

I am happy to be flying over here in Norway where we can have a maximum of 3 jets in the air at the same time - this sounds like a lot of midairs and ground incidents for a single show....

I was there for Friday and till noon Saturday. Had a good time. Very nice flying site. I hope frank is considering a couple of small tweaks, paved taxi ways at the end of the runways and maybe moving the fences for the pilot area back from the runway just a bit. The f14 got just a little to close to it... Overall very nice site! I was helping pit crew etc but what video I was able to get I put into a movie along with stills

It was not bad. I would not attend a show with max 3 planes in the air at a Time. With that many planes you would not get to fly much.

Looks like lots of high-dollar jets were there. Did anybody show up with something as basic as a Boomerang or Reaction 54?

I was there for an period of time on Saturday. I really enjoyed myself. It was my first event attended in the USA as spectator. I was very impressed, especially with the glider with the turbine engine. Who was flying that ? Great performance.

PST Reaction, Boomerang Elan among other "trainer" type jets were flown. Even though there were plenty of "High-Dollar" jets present don't let that discourage anyone from coming out and joining in on the fun. Frank has really outdone himself and provided us with a fantastic facility. With regards to the number of mid-airs, anytime you have several aircraft in the air at once it increases the potential for mid-airs. I will say however that the previous mentions are not accurate as the BVM UB was not involved in a mid-air. That aircraft suffered a flameout and by the time the pilot realized it, it was too late.
