F-35?

Well, after some years of many troubles, slooow problem fixing, etc. finally got it ready to fly. Last weekend I tested the turbine installation, fuel tank system, batt consumption, radio range, fuselage temps, landing gear tracking, etc. Next week is Fesbraer, the biggest rc meeting in Latin America and maiden will be delayed to a couple of weeks. Just uploaded a short video of this session. Hope this beast flies well after all this years of tinkering.

Some more flights today... testing the airframe doing some loops, rolls. loops, etc. so far so good! :-) Really enjoying this bird.
I daresay it is better, faster and smoother to fly than the F-15 , F-16 and F-18 I flew of about the same size and engine.

And a small touch, almost for free: 2 leds, a 200 mah LiPo, a printed color copy of the F-35 MFD and some plastic. Also some extra details in the cockpit like the side stick controler, ejector pull handle, etc. Had fun this sunday doing this completely useless stuff... LOL.

Well. not everything went well with this plane... It flew very nicely until the 11th flight, and then total loss, including the turbine,
I was cruising into the circuit and suddenly I felt loss of authority in the aleiron stick.. and when started to turn back , the F-35 rolled into into it and dived rolling to the ground in a vertical dive. Fortunately, it didnt hit any property or people and also didnt catched fire. It smashed into a tree and almost nothing was salvagable. Including my pride...lol. This plane was flying great, and was a real pain in the *** losing it. After investigating the cause of the accident ( wich was easy, as the parts of the plane were not burnt) a broken linkage was found in one taileron. The servos are still ok, as well the batteries and receiver that survived the crash.. the turbine however looked like a accordeon and it is a total loss.
Posting this as if somebody gets a old jetlegend f-35 kit to fly, it would be wise to change the taileron linkage for a stronger one.. this plane flies great and it would be a pity to lose it by this small detail. best regards to all and fly safe, Enrique.
